01 — A different kind of summer

The fluctuation of summer landscapes has fascinated me lately. Hot, burning days giving way to chilly nights. A wet, fresh morning breeze turning into stillness and heat. Dusty forests becoming misty ponds, sand dunes giving way to wet brick lanes.

Somewhere in my body and mind, summer has always meant crystal-clear waters, salty skin, sun-kissed days and a certain kind of carefree. You feel more beautiful as the sun keeps kissing your skin. Your hair becomes more alive with the salt. Your mind slowly settles into the soft repetition of nothingness.

This year is different.
And unexpectedly, fully exciting.

The Dutch landscape has a different story to tell. Somewhere between heat and wind, forest and city, small bodies of water and my imagination, I find myself looking at summer differently.

The rain has started again.

I’m not sure if it is autumn’s first premonition, or simply the beginning of my deepest resting season.
