EGAS Conference 2025 ✨
( )

A great day on equine locomotion:
biomechanics, force analysis, CoM–CoP mechanics, and how difficult it is to judge the the nuances of asymmetry and performance in sport horses.

Whatever tech you prefer, the golden rule of excellence:

1. Good data
2. Clinical Expertise (incl. constraints of tech and it’s limitations)
3. Understanding the Context

is key to bring value to our horses 🐎💡

So good to connect with the researchers and clinicians who keep pushing this field forward.

Big thank you to for the invitation and a great event — and inspiring conversations with Lars Roepstorff and many others.

One of us back home, the other on the way to Jordania - with a head full of ideas, and too little sleep🐎💡

What I love most about the Netherlands?

🍁Avenues, dressed in autumn colours.

And my every-day-appreciation:
I am so impressed about the variety and functionality of car/cycling/riding pathes.
I lived in different countries, and rural areas before - but everywhere pedestrians / cyclists / horserider, and small dicks in cars are send in each others terrain to fight the fight.

Here, every day I‘m out and find new tracks, pathes, and beautiful spots. useless in cities.
Often, because owner of prestigious private properties with larger woods or nature segments offer their land and so called „Klompenpaaden“ for recreational activities. (In exchange for tax

Nowhere you can experience what sustainable city design does:
ALL traffic participants can safely commute, train, and relax.

In a country were every squaremeter matters.

Eventing - They are not just ‚the Cool Kids.‘

I might be biased, but among all equestrian performances, it’s by far the coolest sport.

👉 Athletically demanding like triathlon
👉 As cool as motocross
👉 As fun as skateboarding – 10x

The triathletes of horse sport are, for me, the most exciting clients. And the ones I do not believe should ever stay unmonitored. Why?
Because the training demands are as complex as they come, balancing three very different disciplines:

🏋️ Dressage – killer focus + strength work (like weightlifting)
⚡ Show Jumping – technical precision + fast-twitch power
🔥 Cross Country (CX) – stamina, grit, and courage built over a lifetime, not a season

But that’s not all.
Eventers peak 6–8 times per season. They gallop flat out for 8+ minutes, over obstacles that demand a special kind of rider to dare to face them. Courses are built ‚forward‘ — for the non-riders, that means: if you hesitate once, you’re done.

If you don’t ride, imagine:
🚴 Cycling full speed, no brakes allowed.
But your “bike” is a million-dollar athlete who protects your life, your dignity, and everything that matters.

That’s Eventing.

And that’s why you don’t do it without monitoring health, fatigue, and avoidable injury risks.
With the 2025 CX season almost in the books, it’s time to share insights on how we ensure our athletes come home safe, healthy, and happy.

If you stay with us, we share insights into:
🔹 Ready2Compete vs Fit2Start
🔹 The Key Performance Indicator of Eventers
🔹 Training vs Event Analysis
🔹 …and more

🥉 European Championship Bronze! 🥉

What a ride from & Konan at the Young Rider Europeans! 💪🐎
From months of training optimization, recovery focus, and stride-by-stride monitoring, to delivering under championship pressure — you’ve proven what really means.

We couldn’t be prouder to support this partnership with science, dedication, and heart.
Congratulations Sophie & Konan — 3rd place at Europeans! 🌍✨

🚨 Milestone Alert! 🚨

The recovery machine Konan & Sophie Weening are heading to the Young Riders European Championships! 🇪🇺💪

No stone left unturned this season — from training optimization and hydration to precision recovery analytics. (He’s a benchmark in our database!)

With massive improvements in speed regularity and consistently rock-solid performances, she’s earned her place through pure dedication — showing what the future of high-performance equestrian sport looks like. 🐎🔥

doesn’t even cut it. 💥 Let’s go!

Barefoot works — until it doesn’t.

In theory, barefoot is the healthiest option for the equine foot. And yes, many sport stables are trying to go this route: more healthy horses through a better metabolism and improved proprioception is the expectation.

But in practice, we often see something else:
• sensitive horses walking on eggshells over the stony pathways of international shows, entering the ring slightly tensed
• reduced stride length in the course
• compensatory movements worriing the physio.and the barefoot idea feels “njaaa”, …

In our recent study, we compared barefoot horses to the same individuals with a glued-on hoof protection system from — and measured the differences using inertial sensor data ( Move Pro).

📉 Barefoot horses showed shorter strides, higher energy cost, and greater variability in speed and landing.
📈 With the glued SHS Performer: stride length +45 cm, take-off angle +13°, energy per stride −0.45 kcal, and jump regularity +15%.

It’s not about proving barefoot wrong. It’s about recognising that some horses need more support.

Glued systems, the sneaker among the shoung optiins, might offer a viable middle ground — protective, but more forgiving than traditional shoes.

Full study summary will be available from August via the CJL Equine website (link in bio).
