From local action to global inspiration: how communities play a key role in shaping a circular future. This publication explores how collective, relational and regenerative practices are transforming the way resources are shared, used and valued.
Building on the first edition (2022), Circular Communities presents diverse, community-led approaches to circular resource stewardship worldwide. It highlights how ecological, social, cultural, aesthetic and financial value can be created through collaboration and closing resource loops.
The book introduces the Circular Value Flower, a design and analytical framework that connects communities with wider ecosystems of stakeholders, policy and spatial contexts. It serves as a practical tool for designers, policymakers and communities working on systemic change.
In their new book, urban designer Els Leclercq, architect Mo Smit and regenerative entrepreneurship expert Fรกtima Delgado Medina further develop the Circular Value Flower: a framework for understanding and advancing circular initiatives by connecting communities with broader ecosystems of stakeholders, resource stewardship, policy and place.
The programme features presentations, short films and discussions with representatives from initiatives including Afrikaanderwijk Cooperative, Pelican Bay Cooperative, Nuvoni Centre for Research, Easy Urban Green Growers, Lewmo, Kampung Kollektive and Bouwtuin.
