Big step forward for hybrid energy assets in Sweden⚡
We are proud to have contributed as a supplier to Alight’s newly operational BESS project in Katrineholm — a strong example of how solar and storage together unlock real system value.

The 2 MW / 2 MWh battery, integrated within a 6 MWp solar park, is now fully operational and prequalified to deliver ancillary services to Svenska kraftnät. By sharing grid connection and infrastructure, this hybrid setup maximises efficiency while enabling fast-response grid balancing.

Solutions like this are key to:

• Strengthening grid stability
• Increasing flexibility in renewable power systems
• Accelerating the energy transition

🚀 Exciting progress at Forsand! Installation of our MCS charging system for Plug AS is now well underway, marking an important milestone in delivering high-power MCS charging solutions for the maritime sector.

We recently carried out a successful Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of what will become the world`s first marine fast-charging station including energy storage and MCS charging (Megawatt Charging System) based on the new MCS standard.

The test marks an important milestone in the development of next-generation maritime charging infrastructure and confirms that the system performs as intended under controlled conditions.

The FAT process included verification of technical specifications, safety functions, full speed test and the interaction between system components, with results demonstrating that the solution is ready for further implementation.

This project represents a significant step forward in the electrification of maritime transport, where the need for rapid, efficient, and standardized charging is crucial to meeting both operational and sustainability requirements. The introduction of the MCS standard enables substantially higher charging power than previously available, making it possible to significantly reduce charging times for passenger vessels.

The collaboration between PSW and Plug has been key to realizing the solution, and the successful FAT highlights the strength of the partnership and the expertise behind the project.

The next phase will involve installation and commissioning in the field, where the solution is set to help establish a new benchmark for fast charging of maritime vessels, that also includes energy storage and grid support.

🔌 Shore Power Upgrade at Fjordbase

We have recently completed an upgrade of an existing shore power installation at Fjordbase.

The system has been enhanced with
✅ a new and modern control system
✅ user‑friendly HMI screens on the quays
✅ a comprehensive service inspection to ensure high reliability and uptime

In addition, the shore power system has been integrated with Fjordbase’s overarching digital systems – in this case Fjuel
Through real‑time data, the port now has improved insight into operation, availability, and energy consumption, enabling better utilization of the facility and more informed decision‑making.

Vessels can charge battery packages while alongside and shut down their diesel engines during port stays.
This results in

"I am proud to summarize a highly successful project. Over the past year, PSW Power & Automation AS has been fully engaged in engineering, production, installation, and testing of a 65-ton E-House module (Power Control Module), for a new platform,"says Espen-Andrè Woldseth, Business Development Manager for Energy Modules.

This module, which will be installed on a platform currently under construction in Singapore, will ensure safe and optimal operation of a high-voltage subsea pump at approximately 1,800 meters depth in the Gulf of America.

We recently completed a full-scale test with participation from the client, end client, and suppliers. Through smart solutions, we were able to replicate real offshore conditions, providing the correct voltage and frequency for both low- and high-voltage systems.

To simulate the demanding conditions in the Gulf of America, we introduced significant amounts of heat to stress-test the cooling system at maximum capacity. At the same time, we used tempered cooling water at 36°C to replicate seawater temperatures. The results confirmed that the system performs optimally even under extreme conditions.

The module has now been fully weighed at 65 tons and approved by the classification society for handover. We are currently preparing it for transport, including careful preservation to ensure it is delivered in the same condition as it leaves our workshop. It will soon be shipped to Singapore.

We are delivering a product that reflects high quality—on schedule, fully functional, and without outstanding issues.

The rollout of the first E-House power modules for a data center project in Stockholm with our valued customer Zeppelin Power Norway has begun.

Our team has been working with the assembly of a total of twelve modules since September 2025. The first units have now been dispatched, in line with the project schedule.

The project is being executed with a strong focus on collaboration, quality, and HSE, ensuring safe and efficient delivery to site. The remaining deliveries are scheduled for completion by mid-March.

Thanks to our good collaborator Royal Transport AS who provides safe transportation of the modules.

Trondheim Havn recently inaugurated its first high-voltage shore power facility, which is located in Orkland kommune. NCL Vestland from North Sea Container Line was the first vessel to be connected to the system.

The ship has a capacity of 1,300 containers and up to 13,000 tonnes of cargo. By using shore power, the vessel can save one tonne of marine diesel per port call, corresponding to 3.2 tonnes of CO₂.

Trondheim Havn now has a flexible, container-based shore power facility supporting both container vessels and RORO ships.

A few years ago PSW delivered a system that supplies up to 4.4 MVA and allows voltage selection between 11 kV and 6.6 kV. For the recent upgrade of the facility we have delivered new plugs, a new high-voltage switchboard, an integrated control system, and an updated HMI – a robust solution for efficient and future-oriented shore power operations.

We congratulate Trondheim Havn on this shore power facility, which represents an important milestone toward greener and more future-oriented maritime transport.
