Scene viewed through wide-angle camera and illuminated by LED light manufactured by DeepSea Power & Light - Subsea Oceanographic - pinless connection to AUV dock via WiSub pinless underwater power & data transfer technology.

The water is rising!

Here is the view from the Fonn Observation Unit looking out into the AUV dock testing bay on the fjord - a snapshot of live video being transmitted via WiSub pinless underwater connection to the AUV dock, further relayed to shore control station.

Wireless power and data connection in real-world use scenario.

A wide-angle Super Wide-i SeaCam® camera and 10,000-lumens LED SeaLite® are being used to observe AUV docking operations this month in Norwegian waters.

These units are integrated to a WiSub pinless underwater connector, which transfers electric power and data without the use of conductive pins, making the units field-retrievable and underwater systems easily reconfigurable.

Uncommon Technologies is proud to have delivered world-class underwater instrumentation from DeepSea Power & Light - Subsea Oceanographic for this innovative application. Best of success to Equinor and WiSub on the path of subsea automation!

Photo received yesterday from customer Equinor, of Fonn Observation System = underwater camera and light interfaced to wet-mateable 250W pinless underwater connector.

Connector pair and instrumentation are about to be deployed in the fjord, connected to the Equinor AUV ("UID") dock - the big yellow steel bit ;)

Tech Note: Impact Subsea Converter PCB:

We strive to make integration of our sensors as simple as possible.

We do this by offering multiple communication options within each of our sensors. For more complex or bespoke integrations, we offer a programmable converter PCB.

Recently we helped in the upgrade of an older underwater vehicle to have the latest sensing technology. This involved replacing a number of obsolete analogue sensors with Impact Subsea digital sensors. To assist, we provided the compact Impact Subsea Converter PCB to convert from digital to analogue telemetry, allowing the ROV to utilise the latest sensing technology without any rework of its core control systems.

If you have an underwater vehicle which requires a new Altimeter, Depth Sensor or Attitude & Heading Reference System contact us to discuss how to upgrade with minimal effort.

DeepSea's new "fish scare" light shown in short video here was demonstrated on a client's ROV system, showing just how effective this device is at scattering fish. If you're having trouble seeing or surveying the job due to excessive fish, give us a call to get your hands on this time-saver.
