Interior architecture is not only about how a space looks—it is about how it is experienced.
In our recently shared coastal cabin project in Stavern, Norway, the interior architecture was shaped through the senses: the warmth and tactility of natural materials, the proportions and flow between rooms, framed views of the landscape, and the changing presence of daylight throughout the day.
Materials influence how grounded and comfortable we feel. Texture adds depth and invites touch. Daylight supports our natural rhythms, while shadow creates softness, atmosphere and moments of pause. Together, these elements can reduce sensory stress and create a stronger sense of calm, connection and belonging.
This is the potential of interior architecture: to bring space, light and materiality together in a way that supports how we feel, think and live.
Because we do not simply see an interior—we experience it with the whole body.
