This family have been practicing Tradiational Newari Woodcarving for countless generations and their last name literally translates to shi-wood and kar-artist. Indra Kaji, 49, has been carving since the age of 12. as been working under his father for the past 12 years and has recently completed is Bachelor in fine art. He is extremely proud of his fathers work and continues to strive to make a name for himself as a contemporary woodcarver whilst remaining true to the ideals his fathers before him have set. The family have recently constructed a traditional Newari house on their small plot of land and hope to host visitors to Bhaktapur for short and long term stays.
