Happy Everest Day: Nepal Celebrates the Spirit of Sagarmatha❤️🙏

Every year on May 29, Nepal celebrates International Everest Day, also known as Sagarmatha Day, to mark the historic first ascent of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953.

The day was officially established by the Government of Nepal in 2008 to honor the courage, determination, and legacy associated with the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest.

International Everest Day also recognizes the invaluable contribution of the Sherpa community, whose strength and expertise continue to play a vital role in Himalayan expeditions.

Across Nepal, the occasion is observed with special programs, tributes, and celebrations highlighting mountaineering achievements, mountain tourism, and the enduring spirit of adventure inspired by Sagarmatha.
