Supporting the Next Generation Through Gateway 🔧

ACL is proud to have once again partnered with Ashburton College through its Gateway work experience programme.

Programmes like Gateway provide young people with the opportunity to explore potential career pathways, gain hands-on experience, and get a real feel for life in the workplace. They also give local businesses the chance to invest in the future of our community.

This year, our Plumbing & Gas team had the pleasure of hosting Ma'a Lene, who joined us for work experience and quickly became part of the team. From day one, Ma'a brought a great attitude, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in the trade. We thoroughly enjoyed having him around, and judging by the smile in this photo, we'd say he enjoyed the experience too! 😊

Whether our young people go on to become plumbers, builders, engineers, business leaders, or pursue something completely different, it's important that we continue to give them opportunities, encouragement, and support. By keeping minds open and doors available, we help create pathways that benefit not only individuals, but the future of our entire region.

⏰15 years of early starts, Tim Chapman.

Tim thought a career change away from becoming a dairy farmer might save him from the early mornings. No such luck for a ready-mix driver. Even today, kick-off was 2am 🫩.

He reckons a good team and leadership that keeps it real, make ACL a great place to work, but we still need top blokes like Tim to join the jigsaw puzzle together.
Without the good people, all we are is great-looking trucks 😘. And we’re so much more than that.

Thanks for keeping the trucks running and the concrete flowing, Tim. Congratulations on 15 years, mate.

Yesterday we farewelled one of our own.

Rusty wasn’t just a work colleague, he was a mate, someone we shared our days with, someone we shared a laugh and a yarn with.

The ACL family extends our deepest sympathies to your family, Rusty & we send you on with our love and appreciation.

Fly High & keep an eye on that sealing team – you know how they get this time of year.
