Everyone needs to see ducklings and these are extra special!

Conservation technology is seldom delivered by a single team. Ours is very much a New Zealand collective effort, built with suppliers who help us make equipment suitable for the environments where it will be deployed.
From Pacific Aerials Ltd tuned VHF antennas and Kilwell Fibrelab mast sections, designed to handle very heavy weather, to stainless steel sections from Autobend and fixings from Anzor Fasteners NZ, every part matters. QuickCircuit Limited manufactures PCBs for us, Absolute Plastics produces our custom Node cases, and Metal Skills Ltd and Mulcahy’s supply sheet metal components. If you've ever wondered where we get our piggy wiggle node antennas from they're supplied by National Springs. Keeping our electronics all powered up are the batteries are sourced through Simpower.
These suppliers have supported us with quality products, service and practical support for many years, often helping us keep costs down for important conservation projects.
Most of our manufacturing and fabrication happens here in New Zealand, supported by a small number of specialist offshore component suppliers.
We’re proud to be a New Zealand Story - FernMark Licensee and to support New Zealand manufacturing and capability.

Great to see this from Parks Australia at Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park.

Mala Rangers have been out on Country placing and baiting traps, and helped install a Celium™ remote monitoring network that sends an alert as soon as a trap is triggered. Less time driving out to check empty traps, and a faster response when one goes off.

It's a great example of traditional skills and applied technology working side by side, and together they're giving the tjakuṟa (great desert skink) and the park's other small residents a better chance.

Proud to be supporting this work on the ground.

Ngāti Rehua Ngātiwai ki Aotea a fantastic project and one that we are very pleased to work with through a massive deployment of monitored equipment.
Aotea Great Barrier Island is a hard place to service. That is exactly why we measure what we measure.
To date Celium™ devices on the island have delivered 2.7 million field messages, keeping remote trapping work visible even when getting out there is hard.

Reliable data off a remote island. That is the job.

Some conservation wins are hard-earned.

For the DoC Orange Fronted Parakeet team in Waimakariri, the work happens in a short trapping window, with difficult access and terrain that doesn’t give anything away easily.

That’s why this update matters: 21 feral cats removed this season so far, strong signs rat numbers have been pushed right back, with multiple samples tested with eDNA returning no rat DNA detected.

It’s a practical reminder that patient, boots-on-the-ground predator control can make a real difference for threatened species like kākāriki karaka.
It’s exactly the kind of real-world field result that matters to us at Encounter Solutions as we keep building Celium - practical technology to support conservation teams doing tough work in tough places.

Fantastic result for this year. Such a small but mighty bird.

Fantastic result for this year. Such a small but mighty bird.

After the most closely contested election in years, a little battler from Rēkohu Chatham Islands has won the 2026 Bird of the Year.

This year saw a record-breaking total of 105,000 people cast their vote for their favourite manu. An impressive 88% of those votes came from right here in Aotearoa New Zealand, meaning roughly 1 in every 50 New Zealanders took part in Bird of the Year 2026.

Behind all the fun, there is a serious message. More than 80% of our native manu are in some or serious trouble. Each vote is a chance to learn more about the incredible species that call Aotearoa home.
