This week's feature celebrates a view where land, sea, and sky meet in an ever-changing tapestry of colour and light.

What draws me to these coastal scenes is the sense of space they create. Standing above the bays, between Mairangi Bay and Murray's Bay, looking out across the water, there's often a feeling of perspective and calm that can be hard to find elsewhere.

In this painting, I wanted to capture not just the view itself, but the atmosphere of the coast and the connection many of us feel to these special places.

"The Quiet Unfurling"

This week’s Friday Feature is a painting inspired by the koru.

A symbol of growth, renewal, and quiet emergence.

This piece evolved slowly, with layers added, softened, and sometimes painted away entirely before finding its rhythm. I wanted it to feel organic and contemplative, carrying both a sense of movement and stillness.

For me, the unfurling fern holds something deeply hopeful. Not loud or dramatic, but steady. A reminder that growth often happens quietly, one small unfolding at a time.

I hope this painting invites a moment of pause and reflection for those who see it.
