GNS Electrical is seeking 1 x full time NZ registered electrician and 1 x 3rd / 4th year electrical apprentice.

We are currently a team of 5 and are looking for some extra hands to keep up with our work load.

Our office and workshop are located in Hobsonville, our work is mainly commercial & industrial with a small amount of domestic work here and there.

Qualified Electrician Requirements:

- NZ Registered Electrician with current NZ practicing license
- Full clean NZ Drivers License
- Ability to deliver high quality work
- Able to work independently as well as being a team player
- Good communication skills
- Excellent customer focus
- Good time management
- Able to occassionally work after hours when required

We upgraded a main switchboard for one of our industrial clients recently and unfortunatley the mains cable failed the required testing and could not be re-livened for safety. GNS Electrical set up a 150kVA generator straight away to keep the tenants warehouse operational whilst we upgraded the mains cable. We installed 20m of underground ducts from the warehouse to the transformer and another 40m of conduit to get the new mains cable to the main switchboard.

Upgraded old three phase contactors that were failing with new 150 Amp Schneider Electric contactors for one of our industrial sites. These works were completed by us after hours to minimize disruptions on site.

We went up to Whangarei a few weeks ago and replaced all the existing high bay lighting with new LED high bay lights throughout the warehouses. Another job done smoothly by GNS Electrical 💪

We had a call out for a traffic lighting system that suddenly stopped working for one of our commercial clients. We arrived within the hour, diagnosed the issue which was that water had got into the control panel and damaged all of the traffic lighting control equipment. This was due to water coming through the top conduit entry. GNS Electrical relocated the conduit so water cannot get in, properly sealed the control cabinet, replaced all timer relays and traffic lighting controls and re-programmed the traffic lighting system to ensure it is operating correctly.

Another commercial main switchboard we upgraded over a long weekend. Switchboard designed and installed by us here at GNS Electrical. We hired a 200kVA generator to keep critical equipment powered up during the shutdown. We had to remove the wall and have double fire doors installed for access to the new main switchboard to meet NZ regulations.
