The celebrations didn't stop at one day.

This week we've continued to put the spotlight on our cleaning teams to mark Thank Your Cleaner Day. From site get-togethers to gift packs, thank you cards and pins, it's been great to see our teams come together and our cleaners recognised for the work they do every day.

A big thank you to our managers and supervisors for making these moments happen, and to our clients who joined in to show their appreciation.

Here are a few highlights from the week. To our cleaners: thank you again. We're proud to have you on the TPS team.

We're celebrating Thank Your Cleaner Day!

With over 400 skilled cleaners in our TPS team, today is about honouring the pride, consistency and hard work they put in to keep our clients' spaces looking sharp.

Some of our team have been doing it with us for more than 30 years. That kind of commitment is something special. It comes from people who care about doing the job properly, every single day.

To every cleaner at TPS: we see the work you do. You're trusted by our clients, valued by our team, and we couldn't do what we do without you.

If a cleaner looks after your workplace, take a moment today to say thanks. It means more than you'd think.

Mental Health Awareness Week | 12–18 October 2026
Belonging Matters | Ko au ko koe, ko koe ko au

Feeling like you belong is one of the most powerful things for our mental health. It's knowing that in the spaces where we spend our time, the people we spend it with make it safe to say "I'm not okay" when things are feeling a little heavier than usual. šŸ’™

Yet on any given day, 1 in 7 NZ employees feels lonely for a lot of the day.

In our line of work, belonging can take some extra effort. Many of our TPS team work while most of the country sleeps, often alone in quiet buildings. Others move between multiple sites each day, rarely in one place for long. For them, belonging comes from small consistent actions things: a check-in text, a wave, a genuine "how are you really?", the times we all come together as a team for a shared meal, and in knowing that someone has their back.

Belonging is something we can all build. This MHAW, let's:

šŸ‘£ Walk beside, don't fix. Sometimes listening is the help.
šŸ‘€ Notice who's gone quiet, and check in.
šŸŽ’ Reach out when it's heavy. It's a strength, not a weakness.
šŸ¤ Show up, small and often.

What a great afternoon with the TPS Operations team! šŸ™Œ

With the support of Proquip / Abco, we recently brought our national Operations team together in Auckland for an Innovation Day, with team members joining us from Auckland, Central, Wellington and Christchurch.

Hosted at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, the afternoon brought together industry experts, insightful speakers and hands-on demonstrations, giving our team plenty of new ideas and learnings to take back into their regions.

The feedback since the event has been incredibly positive, with many of the team sharing just how much they took away from the day:

"As a national Operations team, we don’t often get the opportunity to have everyone together in one room. Beyond the learning and innovation, it was a great chance to connect, share ideas and learn from each other across the regions."

A big thank you from all of us at TPS to James, Kerry and the Proquip / Abco team for organising such a valuable afternoon. We really appreciate the work that went into making the event happen, and the time your team gave to share their knowledge and expertise with ours. šŸ‘

Kia hari te Wiki o te Reo Māori! (Happy Māori Language Week!)

Across Aotearoa this week, people, organisations and communities are coming together to celebrate te reo Māori.

For us at TPS, it’s an opportunity to continue learning and encourage our people to bring more te reo into everyday interactions from our offices to the many sites and communities we work within.

You don’t have to know it all to give it a go. Start with a greeting, learn a new kupu, practise your pronunciation and take it from there.

Quarterly Toolbox Quiz Winners!

A great start to the morning with our Cleaning Division taking out the September Quarterly Toolbox Quiz! šŸ‘šŸ§¹

Every three months, we bring our teams together for a quiz recapping the Toolbox topics we’ve covered over the previous quarter. It’s a fun way to refresh everyone’s knowledge, reinforce the key health & safety messages we’ve discussed, and of course, add a little friendly competition into the mix!
Congratulations to our Auckland Cleaning Division on taking out the win this quarter! šŸ†šŸ‘

Mālō e lelei and Happy Tongan Language Week!

It’s a great opportunity to celebrate and learn more about lea faka-Tonga and the rich culture of Tonga.

At TPS, we’re proud to have people from many different cultures and communities working across our teams. In an industry built around people, recognising and learning about each other’s languages and cultures helps strengthen connections and creates a greater sense of belonging in our workplaces.

This week, we encourage everyone to learn a few Tongan words or phrases, try a greeting and celebrate alongside our Tongan people and communities.

šŸ† TPS wins the Careerforce Workforce Development Excellence Award!

We build people, not just cleaning schedules. That's why TPS NZ just won the Careerforce Workforce Development Excellence Award at the 2026 BSCNZ CleanSweep Awards. There to accept the award for TPS were Kenny Harris (CEO), Kerry Elliot (Head of People and Culture), Lilly Toma (People, Culture and Training Facilitator).

This category, sponsored by Careerforce and introduced for the first time this year, celebrates organisations that understand skilled, supported people are the foundation of great service, and that workforce development is an ongoing commitment, not a one-off activity.

We've seen quarterly turnover drop from 26% to as low as 9% well below the industry benchmark - real proof that investment in people translates to people staying.

A stronger safety culture, not just a policy - with an increase in incident and near-miss reporting, our people are taking an active role in keeping each other and our sites safe.

Real career progression, with internal promotions across our cleaning division seeing people move into supervisory, management and administration roles - training that turns into real opportunity, not just a certificate.

Kerry Elliot, our Head of People and Culture, says the award is a meaningful acknowledgement of TPS's people-first approach:

"Every day, we watch our people grow, and that's what this recognition is really about. At TPS, People First isn't just a value on a wall, it's how we build confidence, capability and real career pathways for our people. We believe strongly in workforce development, and a supported team delivers the consistent, high-quality service our clients count on, that's a win for everyone."

From our cleaners to our supervisors, team leaders and managers - this one's for every TPS person who's grown with us. šŸ†
