Since opening in June 2023, Te Kahu o Waipuna has become a cornerstone of the Blenheim community, with over 430,000 visitors through the doors in its first year.

That’s a 112% increase in visitors compared to the former library building.

The $20 million project is one of the most significant public projects in Marlborough in the past few years.

Haptix contributed to the accessibility of this iconic space by supplying and installing black stainless steel tactiles throughout the interior.

These tactiles aren’t just a sleek addition to the architectural design – they’re a vital accessibility feature that helps people with vision impairments move safely and confidently through the space.

Accessible design matters. Tactile indicators play a crucial role in creating public environments that are not only beautiful but also functional and accessible for everyone.

Blue Hills Estate is one of the latest subdivisions taking shape in Marlborough. Located in Springlands, just a stone’s throw from Westwood Business Park, it’s set to be a prime spot for new builds.

Our CMT Civil team is working alongside the Marlborough District Council and the estate developer to upgrade the underground infrastructure, ensuring the subdivision is ready for the homes to come.

Right now, the crew is upgrading the stormwater system up Rose Street in Blenheim, leading into the subdivision. Once that’s complete, we’ll be replacing the old water main—a key step in future-proofing the area for incoming residents.

Thanks to some great weather, we’ve been able to move quickly, with less dewatering and more digging. With Site Manager David Gill and Drain Layer Dylan Norgate leading the way, everything is running smoothly on-site.

Exciting times ahead for this development!

Nestled at the base of the Wither Hills in Blenheim, an impressive new home has earned top honours in the Registered Master Builders ‘House of the Year’ awards.

Built by Peter Ray Homes, the ‘Long Ridge Love’ property on Marlborough Ridge has been recognised as one of the best new builds in the Nelson/Marlborough/West Coast region, receiving a gold award.

Our crew worked on the exterior of this award-winning property, on the recommendation of Peter Ray Homes. They handled the concreting, paving, and construction of a block retaining wall, turning the outdoor space into a functional and stylish patio.

Reflecting on the project, project manager Adam Carrington said, “We’re pleased to have been involved in such an exceptional residential project. We worked along side Peter Ray Homes and the home owners to ensure the clients are happy with the results.””

Being part of such a high-quality build is a great accomplishment.

Renwick’s water treatment plant in Terrace Road is now operational.

Mason Engineers, who were contracted to install treatment equipment and controls, completed eight weeks of extensive commissioning work late last month and connected the plant to Renwick’s water supply in early June.

“With that work now complete, Renwick households have a water supply that is safe, secure and meets national drinking water standards,” Council Water Treatment Plant Operator Robin Millard, pictured, said.

Masons had been on site for the plant fit out since late last year, following the completion of civil and structural works by Simcox Construction in September. Following the fit out, both wet and dry commissioning was undertaken to ensure the necessary systems were working correctly.

Treated water from the plant goes to all properties within the urban Renwick area.

“Before now, Renwick’s water supply was not passed through a filtration system, so users may notice their water is now clearer and better tasting,” Robin said.

Prior to the fit out, Simcox Construction undertook civil and construction works including underground services, building foundations and pipelines, while subcontractors CMT Group did most of the building work onsite.

Renwick’s water upgrades have also included the construction of a new reservoir in 2020, the installation of water meters from July 2021, and the drilling and development of new wells at Conders Bend Road.

A new water pipeline from the wells to the reservoir and water treatment plant site was installed in 2022.
