Being local is more than having an office in the region.

It means being connected to local suppliers and contractors. Supporting local businesses. Working alongside people we see at school pick up. Being part of the communities we build and maintain every day.

We’re proud to be a local company, employing local people, delivering local projects that make a difference. Because our work reflects on more than just a job. It reflects on the places we all call home.

Most infrastructure is invisible. Until it's the only thing that matters.

Many people don't think about roads, drainage, retaining structures, or resilience works when everything is running smoothly. But when severe weather hits, a slip blocks a road, or a critical connection is lost, the impact is felt immediately.

The school bus taking a longer route. The local business waiting on deliveries. The farmer trying to access stock and supplies. The emergency services team responding when every second counts. The family simply trying to get home.

Then, infrastructure becomes more than an asset. It becomes a lifeline.

As communities across New Zealand face increasing impacts of extreme weather events, the conversation is shifting to how we build resilience and protect connectivity. How we create infrastructure that enables communities to recover, adapt, and thrive long after the immediate response has passed.

At Camex, every project is about more than construction. We take pride in delivering real outcomes that ensure people can get home, businesses can operate, and communities can thrive.

What if the most valuable thing you could do for your business was simply taking the time to listen?

Last month, we had the privilege of hosting a Cambridge Chamber of Commerce NZ event at our Cambridge Head Office, welcoming businesses from across the Waipā and wider Waikato region.

We were fortunate to hear from Mike Pettit Waipā Mayor and Wayne Allan, who shared Council updates and insights shaping our region, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Social Development NZ, who provided an overview of our regional talent pool and workforce opportunities.

Alongside the presentations, there was also real value in the conversations. Those between business owners facing similar economic pressures. Those that reminded us we're not navigating challenges alone. Those that sparked new ideas, new connections, and new opportunities to collaborate.

Events like this are a powerful reminder that thriving communities aren't built by individual businesses. They're built by people who come together, share their experiences, support one another, and work towards a stronger future for our region. The connections we make today are what inspire, lead, and grow the Waikato of tomorrow.

If you've ever thought about joining your local Chamber of Commerce, consider this your sign. We'd love to see you at the next event.

Who has made an impact on your business journey through connection, collaboration, or simply taking the time to listen?

Work is now complete on important safety improvements on State Highway 27, at the intersection of Walton Road & Wairere Road in the Matamata-Piako district.

Two new right-turn bays have been constructed, supported by shoulder widening, swale construction, re-installation of road safety barriers, median island construction, and new signage and line marking.

Delivered on behalf of NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, these improvements provide more space and enhanced safety for vehicles travelling through this busy intersection.

Thank you to local residents and commuters for your patience while we completed these upgrades.

Settled & sunny weather means great progress on our projects right across the central North Island - from Glen Murray in north Waikato, down to Ōpōtiki in the Bay, and many locations in between.

Standing together for kindness, respect, and belonging 🩷

This Pink Shirt Day, we created the Kindness Board - a space for staff to share messages of encouragement, support, and gratitude. In an industry where “harden up” culture can still surface, these notes reflect the type of workplace we’re proud to build every day.
