Every year, our NPS Survey gives our clients an opportunity to share feedback about their experience working with us. We greatly value your insights as they help us understand what we're doing well, where we can improve, and how we can continue to provide a better service.

And the impact of your feedback goes beyond improving what we do.

Together, we donated $2,050 to Starship Hospital, supporting an incredible cause that provided care to 158,134 children last year alone - helping make a difference for families across New Zealand.

From the first stages of civil works to whānau preparing to move into their new homes, it was a privilege to see Te Koha a Raukawa reach this important milestone at the official opening.

Te Koha a Raukawa is a significant iwi-led housing development, delivering 56 lots, including 40 high-quality whare and 16 fully serviced sections for whānau to build on.

As the civil and roading contractor for the development, Camex is proud to have played our part in bringing this kaupapa to life – helping create the foundations for a development that will rebuild, reconnect and create lasting opportunities for Raukawa whānau.

Meet Tyna Ashby, one of our experienced site managers who has been part of the Camex team for the past six years.

“My role is about leading the team, making sure everyone knows what needs to happen, and keeping things moving on site. A lot of my time goes into planning work programmes, solving problems as they come up, and making sure the team has what they need to get the job done to a high standard.

I’m currently leading our site team for the Hopuhopu development project near Ngāruawāhia. Over the years I’ve worked across a range of projects throughout the Waikato, including subdivisions, civil works, and slip repairs. Every job brings something different, like coordinating subcontractors, managing traffic on public roads, working around rivers and streams, and adapting when the weather doesn’t play ball. It’s all about being prepared and planning ahead where you can.

Something people might not realise is how much happens before any machinery even starts moving. A big part of my role is developing the methodology for each job, deciding what plant and equipment is needed, sequencing the work, and always having a Plan B. Winter weather can change quickly, so I like to keep a few "rainy day" jobs up my sleeve to keep the team productive when conditions aren't ideal.

Outside of work, I’m a typical family man who’s still trying to find that perfect work-life balance! Spending time with my family is what matters most, and when I get the chance, I enjoy getting out for a hunt or a fish. It’s my way of switching off, clearing my head, and letting the pressure of work cool down.

What keeps me motivated is always trying to be better than I was yesterday and continuing to learn along the way. I’m far from perfect, but I believe your biggest teacher is your last mistake. Every challenge is a chance to improve, learn something new, and become a better leader. That mindset keeps me motivated to give my best every day.”

There's something special about standing at the beginning of a project that you know will have a lasting impact.

The recent Whakatau and Karakia at Hopuhopu was one of those moments, and it was a privilege to mark the start of works to prepare the site for Te Matatini o Ngā Taniwha 2027.

Camex is proud to have been awarded the civil construction contract and to partner with Waikato-Tainui and Beca on this significant project. Our team will deliver earthworks, stormwater and drainage infrastructure, new bus parking and marketplace areas, pathways, and two grassed amphitheatre-style viewing embankments that will provide elevated viewing for thousands of spectators.

We're grateful to be part of this journey and look forward to bringing this vision to life alongside Waikato-Tainui and our project partners. We are committed to ensuring this project delivers meaningful opportunities and outcomes for Waikato-Tainui, including tribal members and tribal businesses, helping to create a legacy for Te Matatini o Ngā Taniwha 2027, future major events, and the Waikato region.

A sure sign you work in construction - you can’t drive anywhere without pointing things out.

“We did that drainage upgrade.” “Our team built those footpaths.” “Remember when that was just a paddock?”

If you’ve ever been in the car with our CEO Jason, you’ll know the commentary comes naturally. Every trip through Cambridge and the wider Waikato has reminders of the work our people have delivered, and the places we’ve helped build.

Jason is passionate about seeing Camex contribute to local projects wherever we can. When you grow up in a community, and now raise your own family here, you naturally want to play a part in shaping its future.

That’s what makes this industry so rewarding - knowing that years from now, we’ll still look back at these places and say “we helped build that”.

Recently, our Ōpōtiki team shared lunch with Te Ūpokorehe iwi to thank site manager Paul Edwards as he prepares to transition to a new Camex project back in the Waikato, and take on his most exciting role yet - becoming a dad.

We're grateful to Te Ūpokorehe for their warm hospitality and the strong relationship we've built while working together. Thank you also to Paul for his leadership and contribution to the Ōpōtiki projects.
