Good residential design starts with understanding how someone wants to live, not simply what rooms they need.

For Clifton, the brief was personal. As the home of UFA director Aaron Jones, it was a chance to create a warm, relaxed coastal home influenced by his love of mid-century design, natural raw materials and colour.

Set into a compact hillside site in Clifton, Christchurch, the interior utilises timber, cork, split levels, generous volume and moments of bold mosaic tiles to create a home that feels both grounded and playful.

We’re grateful to see that approach recognised at the 2026 ADNZ Canterbury & Westland Architectural Design Awards, with Clifton receiving:

- Regional Award | Home Interiors
- Highly Commended | Resene Colour in Design

More than anything, we enjoy seeing an idea move from brief, to drawings, to construction and finally become a place to live.

Podocarp completed the Curved Gaboon plywood walls that took meticulous craftsmanship, the kitchen, bathroom vanities, laundry and Saligna handrails.

Well… it’s April and this is our first post of the year!
Proof we’re better at getting the job done than talking about it.

We have been privileged to be part of this amazing renovation project. A 1960’s era home, stunning architecture, renovated beautifully to maintain its original features and proud character.

We were involved in many aspects of this project; Starting with the kitchen. Clean, horizontal lines, warm tones of the Rimu timber. The kitchen features both a stainless steel and Saligna bench top. A custom coffee station uplifting to modern needs.

This home is shortlisted in the Canterbury Architecture Awards 2026.
