Before a single litre of concrete arrives on site, the work that determines how long it lasts is already done.

Correct sub-grade preparation. The right depth of crushed rock. Proper compaction. These are the steps that happen out of sight, and they're the steps that decide whether a driveway or path performs over time or starts showing problems within a few years.
