Here is a project to remind you of Summer.
Tasked with designing and implementing this full garden renovation with a very capable, hands on client with great vision to a standard that matched the tasteful and stylish interior of the home, on a well-established property
Clean lines and simple effective design have created a peaceful and inviting space also enjoyed from many rooms within the house.
Good old fashioned green on white can never fail to create a feeling of sanctuary in the middle of an inner city suburb. The standard roses keep on performing throughout the Summer giving a beautiful clean and crisp contrast to the verdant greens
Add to that a courtyard under an ancient existing Rhododendron and entry paths of (Urban Paving) Honed concrete pavers and Granite Settes, creating a space you’re immediately drawn into.
The large ceramic urns are bold features that will settle in time into the surrounding planting. Meanwhile drawing the eye and giving a sense of distance and scale within a relatively compact area.
Add to this picture some outdoor furniture perfect for the space chosen and the once formless area full of potential has become a soothing sanctuary.

In the hundreds of landscaping projects I’ve completed over the years, Urban Paving has always been my first choice for superior paving products
Their diverse range of paving from concrete through to natural stone and porcelain gives me options for every budget and any design.
Their efficient and friendly service coupled with committed back up and support throughout construction has made this such an easy choice to make!

When it comes to paving, aesthetics are no doubt important! Our extensive range of concrete, natural stone and porcelain pavers all provide different styles, colours, and textures – there’s something to suit every kind of space! 👌

However, equally if not more important is the function of our pavers. We have had our entire range independently tested for both slip resistance and breaking loads to ensure that they meet national and international standards. So, when you buy paving from us, you can have peace of mind that they not only look beautiful but that are safe and practical too! Check out our paver specifications via the link below…

The beginnings of something wonderful!
This grand 20-year-old property is about to get a complete makeover and freshen up outdoors.
While planning the future layout and garden to be and discussing which trees and shrubs to keep, this Weeping Maple 2 metres high and 20+ years old really stood up to be counted.
Only one problem, it’s right in the middle of the proposed granite paving forming the new courtyard.
Actually No problem at all!
Firstly after some discussion with my clients we concluded that it would be a great visual improvement to the main entrance of the home, adding some established height and stunning graceful form at the entranceway while .aiding the softening of the architecture once the additional planting is complete.

Secondly mid July was the perfect time to relocate a deciduous tree and with the aid of my good friend Craig Thomas and his man Grant on the digger with Hiab supplied by Liftnload the shift was seamless.
Now we’re looking forward to Spring. Let the Landscaping begin.

This new home, with completely bare section, was a real pleasure to transform for the family. With a North facing courtyard and pool area - the family wanted easy transition between indoor and outdoor living. We created a space that was a real joy to be in - using superior products. (Urban Paving)

This was indeed a great project to have created Urban Paving, and I have a few shots to share myself (just posted)

I planted the seed that grew into this little beauty in 1982.
Pinus coulteri the pine with the huge cones. It’s had many homes in 40 years and I’ll be honest some of those years with serious neglect!
Here it is being transported and craned into maybe it’s final resting place, at home in the front garden, 3.5 metres tall now and thriving 2 years on after settling in.

The compact outdoor area around this apartment has now become a stylish and tranquil oasis in the central city. It’s a beautiful spot and a favourite client of mine.
I used Japanese species/varieties as the plant palette, hardwood decking as seating platform and minimal paving. It was completed with a unique Art piece ( a signature style of mine) featuring Lukeke Design fantails, which I framed and sunk into “Setsugekka” hedging – as the foliage grows around it, this will be quite magical(soft uplighting, included to create night-time atmosphere)
Smaller, compact spaces can be redesigned to bring more joy to outdoor living – just as easily as the larger projects.

The home garden has always been a useful and fun venue for me to experiment with new ideas and planting combinations. Each space brings new opportunity. I always start by identifying assets in the existing garden ie: trees, shrubs, and perennials that I will keep in place, or relocate, then I remove the remaining vegetation. Getting structural planting done early in a project, that is completed in stages, will be super rewarding as your project progresses. Choosing the right planting and using clever layering and contrasting colour and texture can bring some much more atmosphere and personality to your Home and Garden.
Here are some of my home garden shots (now that a few summers have passed) showing the evolution of several different perspectives in the Garden.
