We recently had the chance to design and produce custom layered wall art for a special client.

It portrays a meaningful section of a river, echoing the sentiment and significance held by its owners.

Installed in their spare bedroom, it seamlessly complements the existing color scheme.

| Waikato River Wall Art

Remember the WIP image of this?

This is a slice of the mighty Waikato River. Anyone able to figure out which bit?

This piece was handmade. Drawn, cut and painted, not cnc cut, (although we'd consider that if we do more in the future).

As the longest river in New Zealand, we figured it'd be a good one to start with. We're very happy with how it turned out.

Commissions welcome.

| New Zealand’s Natural Art. Set 01

Some interesting colour palettes, patterns and textures from a recent road-trip on the North Island which included some geothermal parks, where most of the unusual shots were taken.

These will definitely serve as some inspiration for up-and-coming projects.

While we might not post all too regularly, we're constantly working on projects - old and new!

This was a wee test we did and will use on much larger scale; the underlying concept is known as Kintsugi.

Poetically translated to “golden joinery,” Kintsugi, or Kintsukuroi, is the centuries-old Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with gold - a metaphor for embracing your flaws and imperfections.
“You won't realize your full potential until you go through the tough times.”

| The “Lustran” Lamp

Occasionally we find interesting old things and give them a new life and / or purpose.

This was an old gas heater called The Lustran lamp, by Davis Luton. We haven’t been able to find anything out about it, so if anyone knows of these, please share. Google search result brought up some images of 1 other. Nothing else.

The copper reflector was polished up, bulb fitting added to replace the burner and a copper sheath fitted over a cable to match. A genuine Edison style light bulb brought it to life. There’s an interesting shimmer you get from them that the new LED types don’t have. The lamp gives off a cosy, warm glow and some interesting caustic reflections.

| WedgeWood

A careful arrangement of wooden wedges that have been stained or painted to create a colour gradient.

The bottom wedges overlap the backing board to create a sense of movement, almost like a waterfall.

The potential colour palette variations are endless. It’d be fun to create an entire feature wall using these, with undulating patterns and gradients.

Available on our website soon and made to order, in varying sizes and colours.
