AN URBAN IN WĀNAKA

Mcfarlane Terrace Wanaka is one of two UFA-designed homes on this central Wānaka site, and this one is now on the market.

Designed to make the most of a compact site, the home brings together considered planning, warm materiality and a strong connection to its surroundings.

Shaun’s Place is an award-recognised compact home in Christchurch, New Zealand, designed by Urbanfunction around a constrained site and established landscape.

At just 90m², careful spatial planning and a Z-shaped form create a home that feels generous while protecting the mature trees already on site.

Thank you to ADNZ for the recognition, and to our clients and the wider project team for the collaboration that brought Shaun’s Place to life.

A special evening celebrating thoughtful design and the people behind it.

Thank you to ADNZ for recognising our work, and to our clients for trusting us with your homes. Thank you also to every consultant, engineer, builder, supplier and tradesperson who helped bring these projects to life.

Clifton - [Completion]

A compact coastal hillside dwelling designed to feel far bigger than its footprint.

Through sectional design and volume, the home expands outward and upward, capturing panoramic ocean views while maintaining a strong sense of privacy. Split levels create subtle separation between spaces, giving the plan both openness and control.

A restrained palette of timber, steel and blockwork responds to the coastal setting, balanced by warm interior linings and moments of colour that bring key spaces to life.

Built for long-term performance, the house integrates passive design principles, durable materials and on-site energy generation to support efficient and considered living. A big thank you to everyone involved in delivering this detailed and challenging project. It takes a solid crew to bring something like this to life.
