Another couple of spray booth projects ticked off for the team 🔧

For Total Access, we delivered a full hazardous area electrical install on a new telescoping spray booth — including a hazardous area rated fan, pressure switch, spray solenoid, and control cabinet.

At JB Joinery, we upgraded an existing booth to bring it up to compliance, installing a new control box, spray solenoid, and fan pressure switch.

Both projects were inspected and signed off by our in-house hazardous area inspectors — ensuring full compliance and giving our clients confidence their systems are safe and fit for purpose.

Skills Group / Master Electricians Annual 4WD Trip – Central Otago

A week or so ago we held the Skills Group / Master Electricians “annual” 4WD trip, organised once again by Ken Hay from Skills Group — and as always, it didn’t disappoint.

Unfortunately, this year’s trip had to be shortened due to the horrendous weather Central Otago was dealing with at the time. That said, we still managed to cover some incredible country and pack plenty into a few days.

We kicked things off on Day One tackling the Omarama Saddle, making our way through to St Bathans — an outstanding run with some great scenery along the way.

Day Two saw us heading from Ranfurly through to the historic Serpentine Church. However, the weather caught up with us, and one of the fords we needed to cross had turned into a full-blown river. With safety front of mind, we made the call to turn around and head back.

On the third day we pushed into the Nevis — always a highlight — before finishing up in Bannockburn to wrap up the trip.

Despite the conditions, we had a fantastic time. There were definitely a few hairy moments thanks to the weather, but that’s all part of the adventure. Great crew, great tracks, and another memorable trip in the books.

Already looking forward to the next one.

Next week a couple of our hazardous area electrical team are heading back down south to Scott Base to handle electrical compliance and inspection work.

Fuel systems, hazardous areas, huts, earthing, pumps and solenoids — all the usual stuff… just done in Antarctica.

Thermals required. PPE list slightly longer than normal. Brrrrr!
