NEW ARTIST - DONNA HOWES
Painting from her hometown of Ōtautahi Christchurch, Donna Howes creates distinctive oil-on-canvas works inspired by Aotearoa’s natural environment.
After leaving a demanding corporate career in 2020, Donna followed her passion for painting and has since established herself as a full-time artist. Her work is united by a deep connection to nature, celebrating the beauty, movement and spirit of New Zealand’s landscapes and wildlife.
Donna’s stylised bird series offers a bold and contemporary reimagining of our native species. Intricate koru forms and rhythmic lines are woven through each subject, creating a visual language that echoes the flow of wind and water. The result is a collection of striking artworks that capture both the energy and essence of the natural world.

Lori is a Canterbury-based artist and designer whose work celebrates the pattern, rhythm and colour of Aotearoa's landscapes and everyday environments. A self-taught artist, she begins with observational drawings that are composed into layered collages before being brought to life with gouache paint on Saunders Waterford cotton rag paper.

Known for her distinctive style and tipped perspectives, Lori creates original and recognisable works that capture the beauty, character and rhythm of the whenua and the spaces that surround us.

✨ ARTIST SPOTLIGHT - JULIE GREIG ✨
Julie Greig is a New Zealand artist working primarily in pastel, known for her quiet, atmospheric depictions of rural life. Based in Otago, her work is deeply informed by the surrounding landscape, where shifting light, seasonal change, and a sense of stillness play central roles. Greig’s paintings often explore moments of pause — a resting horse, a silvery morning, the end of a working day — capturing both the physical presence and emotional resonance of her subjects. With a restrained palette and sensitive handling of light and edge, she seeks to evoke calm, reflection, and connection to place. Her practice is grounded in observation, yet guided by a desire to simplify and distill each scene to its essence.
