Changes to Ashby's Ready Mixed Concrete Service

AML Limited (AML) is a joint venture between Allied Concrete Limited (ACL) and Holcim New Zealand Limited (Holcim). This joint venture operates a number of concrete plants, which trade under the brands of Allied Concrete in the North Island and Ashby’s Ready Mixed in the South Island.

Allied Concrete and Holcim have mutually agreed to further their business strategies independently and conclude this joint venture. Subject to New Zealand regulatory approvals, the new operational arrangements will be in place from November 2023.

As a result of this, Holcim will operate the majority of plants in the North Island under the Holcim brand, which include Avondale, Bombay and Horotiu. Holcim will also operate Ashby’s Ready Mixed in Christchurch, under its existing brand.

Allied Concrete will operate the Silverdale, Penrose, and Hautapu (Cambridge) plants in the North Island.

AML will continue to operate its Gisborne, Nuhaka Quarry, and Whanganui plants.

From now until completion in early November 2023, it’s business as usual with us; place your orders and we will continue to fulfil them.

All customers and suppliers will be contacted over the coming weeks, to discuss what will happen after the completion date.

Cheers to 30 Years of Service! We congratulate John, who recently reached a remarkable milestone of 30 years with Ashby's. A morning tea topped off with a special cake was held in his honour, marking this impressive achievement.

John's journey began in 1993 with Isaacs Concrete, which later became RMC, and eventually merged into Ashbys in 2013. Throughout his tenure, John has taken on a range of roles, including slumping, testing, batching, dispatching, and driving.

Thank you, John, for your dedicated service and contributions to our business. Here's to the years ahead!
