Have you seen the latest Malvern News?
Arthur's Pass Wildlife Trust member and all round good bu**er Graeme has received major recognition for his work in the greater Arthur's Pass area for his work with the APWT.
He is the undoubtedly one of the back bones of that organization.
APWT has countless traps all over the valleys surrounding Arthur's Pass where kiwi and other native bird life are flourishing because of the APWT work.
We will ignore the fact he comes from across the ditch, but I'm sure he considers himself a kiwi well and truly.

The other week, this rat bait trap was full. Within a week it was half eaten. Today, the rats and rodents have gobbled up/taken away all the poison baits.
This is a video of how to reload your bait station.

-Put on disposable gloves.
-Unlock the bait station.
-Add more baits onto the bar.
-Lock it back into position
-Lock the bait station making it child and pet friendly.

Most baits will fit into these.
Wear disposable gloves.

These little stations are great.
$30 dollars from most hardware stores.
They contain a poison in a locked, childproof and pet proof container.
Rodents enter via the side holes, chew the baits and leave. One good chew and the toxin will take effect and quickly and humanely kill the rodent.
This one was put out two weeks ago outside my woodshed. Checked it today and a few things have a good nibble on them.
Head down to Darfield ITM and see what rodent control they have at the moment.
They carry a range of rat traps, mouse traps and poison baits.
Just be sure to follow the instructions on the baits and be sensible.

It's that time of year where rats and mice are finding the weather gets cooler and they are looking for dry places to nest.
Woodsheds, garages and garden sheds are always popular places.
PFD has been gifted a SuperMax trap via giveatrap.org.nz

So I've decided to give it away to someone whose shed has had sign of rodents.

The great thing about this trap is it's virtually hands free. It's designed to be pet safe and child safe.
The way to set it is via the lever on the side so zero chance of snapping your fingers!

A wee bit of bait on the inside such as peanut butter and placed in the corner of your garage will have those rodents gone forever.

So simply reply to this post and tell me why you need it. Perhaps suitable for an older person or someone with curious kids or animals?

This stoat was a few kms out of Darfield on a property with chickens and ducks. It's a property that has had ferrets trapped in the past.
These pests are out there. We just need traps to stop them.

For Darfield things are just ticking over.
Traps still going out when needed.

The main problem all groups face is statistics.
We need your numbers.
Can't apply for funding without knowing what we are trapping.
Funding means more traps.
More traps means closer to the goal.

Unwanted traps can be returned. Just message and I'll come get them and re-distribute

Multiple DOC200 style traps. And a Timms trap with a brilliant catch, a feral cat. Look at those teeth. These are not your friendly house cat. They are one of the most destructive mammals in our country.
