We need your help! 🙏
It's difficult to ask for help, especially in business, but we are experiencing a massive down turn in demand, even though we know that there HEAPS of fires out there that need to be swept, for both safety and for insurance reasons.

Booking in for a spring clean helps us maintain a steady workflow during this lower demand time (so we can pay our bills) and also alleviates some of the massive demand and pressure we face before winter.

Chimney cleaning used to be something that was always done in the spring time, but that has drifted into the category of doing it right before you want to use it, or when you have a problem. That's fine, except it's getting harder and harder for us to exist with such big swings in demand.

If anyone has a chimney they need swept please do not wait till before winter. Please book it in now - it gives us useful work to do, and you'll have a clean and safe fire ready for whenever you need it.

We also know that times are really tough, so if you aren't able to afford $100 please get in touch with us and we can see what we can do for you. We'd rather make less and make sure that your fire is safe.

Emergency services will come as quickly as they can, but they have to find you first.
Anything you can do to make sure that your property is easily located and accessed is time very well spent.

It is our first Normaversary and we can't believe that a year has passed. She is more than we could have ever hoped for.

I have been so moved by the gentleness and intelligence of this amazing breed - not just in Norma, but in all of the hounds we meet. Their humans are super cool too.

We had to really work for Norma's love and trust, but it is so worth it, and I treasure every tail wag and cuddle from our sweet girl. Happy Gotcha Day 🥰

Nic came across an excellent suggestion for managing photos - just search for the date or month, which will bring up all the photos for that period, then just go through and review.

I've just started doing this, and it's been a really lovely way to spend some time.

The pick of my most recent dive into the archives is the arrival of our dearly departed Caesar (aka Bubba, The Cheese, Ratboy) who came into our lives as a wee bundle of fur in September 2011. 🐾

Norma has been with us for almost a year now and she has totally transformed. She is very sweet, smart and super cuddly and she absolutley adores Nic. She loves me too, but I am definitely the spare human in her estimations.

She's also loves sharing the bed, which is all well and good except that it's like cuddling with a hairy bicycle.

We wouldn't change a thing.

Kia ora Dunedin, just some friendly info for the folk who are new to using a fire.

🔥All types of fires need to be cleaned regularly.
Even those that are labelled "Eco" or are low emission. It reduces the risk of chimney fire and allows the fire to work properly.

🔥It is also required by your insurance as part of your maintenance/duty of care responsibilities. We recommend checking with your insurer how often they need this done for compliance.

🔥Spring time is the best time to have your fire serviced - a clean chimney will allow your fire to perform better during the troublesome spring weather conditions we usually have.

🔥We work all year - there's no "season" to wait for your chimney to be swept.

Please feel free to share with others who may not know this information - we come across a lot of people who are unaware how important servicing is.

Yay for the first egg after their winter downtime. They are a cross breed that lay delicious and very pretty green shell eggs, but they don’t lay over the short daylight months. Hence my excitement 😊
