Winter hassles, getting those clothes dry!
Most homes in Dunedin have a clothes dryer as during the winter it can be close to impossible to get clothes dry!
However, clothes dryers are another leading cause of house fires and they can really bump up that power bill!
Here are some tips to keep your home safe and the power bill down.
1) Give clothes a good spin in the washing machine. It takes a lot less energy to spin than to heat.
2) Dry clothes outside first. Use the dryer to finish them or as a wet-day back-up.
3) Don’t stuff it full. Clothes should be able to tumble to dry properly.
4) Dry clothes of similar weight together. Jeans need a lot longer than t-shirts.
5) Clean the lint filter after each load. If the screen is blocked, clothes take longer to dry. This is also extremely important to prevent fires!
