A few years back we tucked a modern self-contained apartment underneath this old villa on Tweed Street. Century-old house on top, brand new space below.

The floor's polished concrete with paua and a custom Koru design set right into it. We left the steel support beams exposed, giving it that industrial look but it still feels warm, not cold.

The staircase was the tricky bit. Built from structural steel, custom-shaped to follow the slope of the land, because nothing about this site was flat or straightforward. Ground conditions were rough, and we had to dig deep to get the foundations in, but that's the kind of problem we like sinking our teeth into.

Still one of our favourite jobs.

The fence and landscaping on Tweed Street have turned out awesome. A smaller job, but the team in the factory nailed the fabrications, and the finish speaks for itself. Looking super crisp, we're happy with this one.
