QEII Open Space Covenant Surveys ⛰️📜

A QEII Open Space Covenant is a voluntary legal agreement between a landowner and the Queen Elizabeth the Second National Trust (QEII National Trust) that permanently protects areas of significant natural, scenic, ecological, geological or cultural value on private land in New Zealand. The covenant is registered on the land title and remains in place even if ownership changes, ensuring that important natural features are protected for future generations.

For landowners, a QEII covenant offers several benefits. It provides permanent recognition of their commitment to environmental stewardship and conservation. Landowners retain ownership and control of their property while receiving professional advice and support from QEII National Trust staff on protecting and managing the covenant area. Financial assistance may also be available for fencing, pest and w**d control, and other conservation projects that enhance the protected area.

A covenant can increase the ecological resilience and biodiversity of a property by safeguarding native habitats and water quality. It may also enhance the property's environmental reputation and contribute positively to regional conservation goals. Overall, a QEII Open Space Covenant survey is the first step in identifying and documenting significant natural values on private land, enabling landowners to secure long-term protection for those areas while continuing to own and enjoy their land.

We’re celebrating a pretty special milestone at Geoworks 🎉

A huge congratulations to our Graduate Surveyor, Alex Baker, on officially passing the examinations and interviews required to become a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor! 👏

This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to Alex’s commitment, perseverance and hard work over the past few years. Alex was also part of the pilot programme for the new competency assessment framework, making this accomplishment even more significant.

We’re incredibly proud to see him reach this milestone and grateful for the dedication, passion and expertise he brings to Geoworks every day.

Congratulations Alex — well deserved and we look forward to seeing your continued success as part of the Geoworks team.

Big couple of weeks for the Geoworks team working alongside Avodah Photo + Cinema capturing some fresh new content for the business.

From site visits and field work through to office collaboration shots, it’s been great showcasing the people, projects and technology behind what we do every day across surveying, engineering and planning.

Last week, Geoworks was proud to sponsor and support the annual PB Charity Golf Tournament, held at the Feilding Golf Club.

We sent along Alex, Nathan, Garry and Ryan to represent us 🏌️‍♂️

Together, we raised over $14,000 for Manawatu Riding For Disabled — an incredible result for such a deserving cause. Thanks to all who were involved, your support will make a real difference in our community.
