🌟 What a finish to the 2026 Geoworks Snooker Pairs Competition!🌟

Geoworks Ltd is proud to have sponsored and hosted this year’s competition, with over 400 games played collectively throughout the winter months.

Pictured with sponsor, our own Garry Wood, are our semi-finalists, who competed for a place in the final on Wednesday evening at the Feilding Club. Plenty of laughter made for a fantastic atmosphere and a thoroughly enjoyable night!

Congratulations to our winners 🏆 Ian Blunden and Brian Humphrey, who faced Darren Lewer and Kevin True in an incredibly exciting final. The lead changed throughout the match, with both pairs showcasing their outstanding snooker skills and keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.

A special mention to Jamil from the Saleyards Cafe who provided a wonderful meal and thank you to everyone else who took part and helped make the competition such a success!

✨ This weekend our very own Brian Curtis will be pedalling for a cause along with the rest of his team, Gears and Beers, in the Evolve Fitness Feilding 12-Hour Bikeathon! ✨

Brian and his team are raising funds for a cause close to many of our hearts - the Arohanui Hospice - who help so many families through the toughest of times.

Last time over $13,000 was raised by the teams taking part and so far they are up to $7,000 - if you can spare it, every bit counts to help raise as much as possible for this fantastic cause 👏

Project Spotlight 🔦

Project: Residential House Site

Services Provided: Geotechnical site assessment and structural retaining-wall design + consenting

Geoworks was engaged by a residential client to assess the ground conditions of a site proposed for a new home. Following several site visits for monitoring and a review of the site conditions, our team developed a proposal for a preliminary geotechnical assessment and the design of a retaining wall to stabilise and secure the elevated ground below the proposed house site.

The project required careful consideration of the site’s topography, ground conditions, imposed loads and the relationship between the retaining structure and the proposed dwelling. Our engineering team worked together with the Architect to develop a practical and compatible retaining-wall solution designed to provide long-term stability, while supporting the construction and safe use of the new residence and meet the clients' expectations.

The scope included:
• Review of the site constraints and further geotechnical site information
• Assessment of soil pressures, surcharge loads and drainage requirements
• Structural design of the retaining wall and associated foundations
• Preparation of engineering calculations and construction drawings
• Coordination with the client, architect and contractor
• Our Planning team also prepared and lodged Land Use Consent documentation to Council

The completed design provided the client with a safe, durable and buildable solution tailored to the site conditions and proposed residential development. Safe to say we are looking forward to seeing our client's new home develop on this site 🔨
