๐ข๐ดP4โs dominate at Kลwhai Park๐ข๐ด
With Gareth winning the first toss of the year, Feilding were sent out to bat first. The opening pair of Larsen and Dundass quickly got to work with the score at 51 for no loss after the first 10 overs. Tug the first to drop with a solid 24. Westy and Dundass continued to keep the runs flowing with the Ding being 122/1 at drinks. Westy continued to score runs in a big way and brought up 50 on his official debut for FCC. Dundass quickly followed with his 50 only a few overs later. Young tried to continue on the theme of the day, only to be stopped short on 44 after the club captain made the comment of โGarethโs looking really good out thereโ. With the score at 202/5, FCC did classic FCC things and had a middle and bottom order collapse, highlighted by Fox nicking off first ball. FCC set 232 for the Stallions to chase.
Kereama and Rutherford opened the bowling. Kereama talking first blood in the 3rd over with Rutherford taking his first in the 5th over. First change saw Cree and Meurk join the bowling attack, with Cree taking his first after just 3 balls. Wickets continued to fall as the FCC quicks continued to do the business. Spin was brought on as Westy and Fox entered the chat with Fox taking a wicket and then proceeding to bowl a big leg side wide and a head high no ball. Foxโs hunt for his first FCC catch in 4 years continues after dropping Westyโs first wicket. Westy would still end up taking 2 wickets and the Stallions were all out for 97.
Great opening game win for the Ding that was celebrated with a couple of beers and a BBQ to round out the day. With no game next weekend for the P4โs, the attention turns to the 2โs as they look to open their account in a similar fashion.
