Base Civil is a New Zealand owned civil construction company that works in partnership with both private organisations and local government clients throughout the central North Island. We've been busy building roads and underpasses, undertaking major earthworks, turning green field sites into commercial subdivisions and streetscaping detailed urban environments. At the same time we’ve been expandi

ng our capability, collecting some serious fleet equipment and assembling a smart team of engineers and operators. Right now, we’ve never been readier to take on your next civil engineering project. We provide civil construction and civil engineering services, including earthmoving, drainage, storm-water and sewerage, roading and site-works for commercial subdivision. Over the last 6 years, we’ve worked on a range of projects both large and small. Perhaps you are considering a project similar to those shown here?

We’ve had the pleasure of completing a number of carpark upgrades across the Waikato, helping make a difference in some of our smaller communities. 🚧
Recent upgrades have taken us to Naike, Kariotahi, Tauwhare and Huntly — each one an opportunity to deliver practical improvements for the people who use these spaces every day.
It’s always rewarding to see the difference these local projects can make. 👷‍♂️

For Matariki weekend the State Highway 1 (SH1) Cambridge section of the Waikato Expressway will be open to 4 lanes with temporary speed limits and all interchanges working.

We have up to 4 crews working day and night where they can, to complete asphalting work on the project. Since contractors started on 1 March, they have laid more than 58,000 tonnes of asphalt to ensure the expressway is safer, more resilient, and ready for future growth.

The project is ahead of schedule and expects to start Stage 5 on Monday 20 July (weather dependent) until mid-August. Stage 5 is the closure of the southbound off-ramp at the Northern Interchange (Cambridge West/Velodrome exit). All southbound SH1 traffic wanting to access Cambridge, coming from Hamilton, will need to continue down the expressway and use the Victoria Road Interchange at Hautapu, but please consider all alternative routes to ease congestion.

There’s more information about the project and all stages on our website: https://nzta.govt.nz/waikato-works

Final preparations are underway prior to deploying our new Hydrovac unit to service. In response to the growing demand for complex excavation and underground services, and to guarantee safe and timely delivery for our clients, we have made a strategic investment in our own Hydrovac equipment, thereby ensuring its availability to meet our operational requirements.

Morrinsville Road "Peanut Roundabout":

The final layer of asphalt is officially down, bringing us one step closer to opening this project up to the public.
We’re now into the finishing stages, with the last bits and pieces underway — including tactiles, signalised crossings, Micro surfacing, installing cycle separators, lighting and line marking.
We are excited to be near completion. Stay tuned for the final update 👀
