A position in Mangatu Forest Gisborne Region has become available for a Breaking out/Poleman working with a Skycar and 110ft tower. Preferably able to move backline Bulldozer and be experienced in all aspects of lineshifts and rigging requirements. Must be drug free, have a can do attitude and be reliable. Log 3 recieving from Ernslaw One Gisborne Manager Blair Van der Mass, the OVERALL New Zealand TopSpot Silver (runner up) hauler crew award for 2023.

Also taking out some individual awards overall for TopSpot were
🏆Q for an out standing safety attitude and demonstrating a high level of technical proficiency for hauler operator
🏆 Tahi for an out standing safety attitude and demonstrating a high level of technical proficiency for head breaker out
🏆 Nelson or an out standing safety attitude and demonstrating a high level of technical proficiency for breaker out

UPDATE - sorry HS lady didn’t have her glasses on W***y got 2nd for OVERALL TopSpot machine operation on the landing (not 3rd!) sorry W***y!

It’s been a while since posts and updates. After some serious weather events and an ongoing state of emergency on the East Coast it was nice be at work to celebrate some top work! DCL Log 3 were acknowledged this morning for some serious mahi.

Ebony - National Level 4 Certification in harvesting mechanised operations
Terry - National Level 4 Certification in harvesting tethered operations

Tahi - Second for Ernslaw central/Eastern region in breaking out.
Dan - Third for Ernslaw central/Eastern region in breaking out.
AND second (Tahi) and third (Dan) NATIONALLY for TopSpot in breaking out!!

Q - Second for Ernslaw central/Eastern region in hauler operation.

Terry - Second for Ernslaw central/Eastern region in tethered falling.

W***y - Second for Ernslaw central/Eastern region in loader operations AND second nationally for Top Spot in loader operations!! Don’t worry we will get a photo of Willie he was hard at work loading this morning!

Tried to get a nice picture with the hauler in the background but the sun was not playing ball (we won’t complain about the sun ☀️ though!!)

Been a while since posting on here but nice to celebrate some achievements for the first period of 2022 with Top Spot.

DCL Log 3 1, 2 and 3 for Breaking Out (Well done Tahi, Dan and Nelson).
DCL Log 3 1st Terry mechanised felling and processing (felling).
DCL Log 3 1st W***y for machine operation on landing.
DCL Log 2 2nd Dion Manual tree falling.
And rounding it out DCL Log 3 2nd Q for yarder operation!

Little late in the day but flicking through there are some GREAT results on the Top Spot awards in the Logger for DCL Log 3….
4th quarter BO 1st and 2nd = Tahi and Nelson, QC 1st = Dan, Yarder operator 1st = Q!!
2021 full year overall results BO 2nd = Tahi, machine on landing 2nd = Willie and yarder operator 2nd = Q!!!
Looking forward to seeing the results of Log 3 AND Log 2 this year!!!!

That is a a wrap for the team at DCL for 2021 - what a year it has been!
Lots of positives and great achievements to celebrate, lots to work on too. Shout out to all the people outside of DCL who have helped us make 2021 a good year.

We wish you all a safe and happy holiday break with whanau and friends wherever that may be.
Bring on another round of good, hard mahi for 2022.

DCL had with a Christmas lunch at the Mangatu Hall on Friday to celebrate another year and look to the future for bigger and better things in 2022. COVID-19 restrictions meant we couldn’t celebrate how we normally do but it was still good to get together and acknowledge 2021.

With great pride we announce the next wave of certification achievements within DCL….

Joseph Robin (received on his behalf by Dad Terry Robin of Log 3) completion of New Zealand Forest Harvest Operations Poleman Level 3

Dion Robin (Log 2) completion of New Zealand Forest Harvest Operations Manual Tree Felling Level 3.

Horowai Cameron (Log 2) completion of New Zealand Forest Harvest Operations Fleet, sort and stack Level 4.

Tahi Hiroki (log 3) and Horowai Cameron (Log 2) for completion of National Certificate of New Zealand Forest Harvest Operations Spotting level 4.

Finally HUGE congratulations to Tahi Hiroki and Ebony Tuari (Log 3) for completion of National Certificate of New Zealand Forest Harvest Operations Head Breaking Out LEVEL 4!!! There have not been many of these full certifications awarded nationally or here on the East Coast this year so two in one crew is AWESOME.

Well done all keep up the hard mahi!

Congratulations to Harry from Log 2 who was recognised for his positive safety behaviour by Ernslaw. Lots of great things coming from Log 2 (picture below) so ka pai team!

Also a shout out to Tahi from Log 3 being the first person on a TTT breaking out audit to score 100% with Toru from Log 2 close on his heels as the second person to get 100%!!!

It’s challenging for forestry out there right now so it is nice to hear about the good things!!!
