Throughout the year, our teams get behind MoveSpring challenges that promote wellbeing, connection, and a little friendly competition. Last month, we took part in a company-wide step challenge aligned with the Firefighter Sky Tower Challenge.

This challenge sees firefighters from across New Zealand climb Auckland's Sky Tower in full kit, raising funds for Blood Cancer New Zealand. This year's event raised an incredible $2.5 million for the charity.

One of our own, Kelly Rooney, completed the challenge as part of the Greymouth team, which raised just under $50,000 for the cause. To support the effort, ElectroNet launched a company-wide step challenge and donated $500.

The challenge also highlighted the valuable contribution many of our people make volunteering for emergency services, dedicating countless hours to supporting and protecting their local communities.

Exciting to see the first solar panels installed at Te Rahui Solar Farm 🌞⚡
We're proud to be designing and building the grid connection substation that will enable 200MW of solar generation to connect into the national grid!

Big things are taking shape at Te Rahui 🌞

There’s something special about milestones - seeing plans turn into progress.

At the 400MW Te Rahui Solar Farm, the first solar panels have been installed. We’re working alongside our partners Nova Energy and Meridian Energy to connect their major new renewable project onto the grid, helping bring more clean energy to homes and businesses across Aotearoa.

Projects like this take careful coordination behind the scenes to build the grid connection. From engineering and construction through to data and commissioning, we make sure everything connects safely and reliably.

It’s another step forward in building the generation Aotearoa needs for an electrified future, and a great example of momentum building across the sector. ⚡️

The beginning of the year saw the commissioning of stage two of Mercury's Kaiwera Downs Wind Farm project.

We’re proud to have played a role in supporting the design and build of this critical infrastructure, helping to power communities more sustainably. Find out more about the part we played.

ElectroNet used a Design-Build-Deliver model, including procurement, to deliver the Stage 1 Electrical Balance of Plant for the Kaiwera Downs Wind Farm.

This week we hosted our annual ElectroNet Graduate Summit, with 14 graduates from across our New Zealand offices coming together for the event.
The programme included presentations from senior leaders, an Ask Me Anything panel, and the graduates presenting their own Fast 5s.

It was a great opportunity for them to build confidence, share ideas, and connect across the business, another way we support the development of our people!

We’re excited to welcome Brett Horwell to ElectroNet Group as our new General Manager - Consulting from 11 May.

Brett has been around the energy sector most of his life, from growing up around geothermal projects in New Zealand and Kenya, through to working in the North Sea and at Meridian Energy.

He’s looking forward to getting stuck in, building connections across the sector, and getting to know the team and the work behind ElectroNet’s strong reputation. He’s also keen to hear from customers and support their growth as we help deliver Aotearoa’s renewable energy future.

Great to have you on board, Brett!

We are excited Stuart, our Principal Electrical Safety Engineer in the UK team, will be a keynote speaker at this year’s IDC Earthing Conference in Birmingham, UK!

Stuart will be presenting on off-frequency current injection testing and how it can be used to verify earth grid designs and assess impacts on third-party infrastructure in real-world conditions.

The IDC Earthing Conference is a great event for bringing together industry experts to share practical insights, emerging challenges, and innovations in earthing. We are proud to see Stuart representing ElectroNet and sharing his expertise on an international stage. We’re proud to have recently played a key role in Alpine Energy's major upgrade of the Washdyke site, north of Timaru ⚡

This redevelopment boosts capacity to support urban and industrial demand in the region.

Stage One includes four 11kV cable circuits from the Timaru Substation, to supply the new Washdyke 18-panel indoor switchboard. Stage Two will see the addition of two 33/11kV transformers and 33kV indoor switchgear.

Our team delivered the design and construction drawings for all Stage One secondary systems, from protection schemes and switchboard design through to AC/DC and communications systems. We also supported works at the Timaru site, including relay upgrades and circuit changes.
It's great to be part of a project that strengthens local infrastructure and supports future growth.
