There’s something pretty special about a home with views like this. Sitting above the Waikato River near Piarere, this landscape has come together beautifully through the work of several contractors - and we were pleased to be the ones to bring the garden to life.

Our part of the project was all about the planting and finishing details, with more than 700 plants going in across the property, including larger specimen trees from The Plant Store NZ.

We also installed corten steel tree rings, tree stakes and corten edging along the lawn and around the perimeter of the vege boxes.

Then came the weedmat… and a lot of mulch! The finishing touches that make a newly planted garden look tidy, considered and ready to settle in.

That’s what we love about a landscape like this. It’s not going to look exactly the same in five years as it does today - and that’s the point.

The trees will mature, the planting will fill out, and the garden will become more and more established around the home.

We’re pretty sure that Waikato River view is one thing they’ll never get tired of though 🌿

A beautiful garden before. A whole lot more useful now. 🌿

This home already had a lovely garden - established, leafy and looking right at home with the house.

The owners wanted to make better use of an area of the garden, so we created a dedicated edible garden - a productive space for growing fruit and linking with existing vegetables gardens, while still fitting naturally into the existing landscape.

The new garden beds have added another layer to the space. More purpose, more to enjoy, and a garden that will change with the seasons as things are planted, picked and grown.

It’s a great example of how thoughtful landscaping can improve the way you use your outdoor space without completely changing what already works.

The best kind of garden improvement is one that makes you wonder why it wasn’t there all along.

Every now and then, Simon swaps his project management hat for a tool belt.

And this fence was a pretty good reminder that he hasn’t lost his touch.

Beautifully built, carefully finished and absolutely no shortcuts.

Because great landscaping isn’t just about knowing how to manage a project - it’s about understanding how things should actually be built.

Years on the tools give our project managers a different level of knowledge when it comes to detail, problem-solving and knowing what good workmanship looks like.

Things we'd rather tell you than sell you...

🌿 You probably don't need more plants.
More isn't always better. Sometimes a few well-chosen plants will do a much better job.

🥾 2. Low maintenance doesn't mean no maintenance.
We'd rather set realistic expectations than promise you a garden that looks after itself.

🪜 If your garden requires a ladder, three hours and a sore back every time you prune it…
…it might be telling you something.

🧱 The simplest solution is sometimes the best one.
Not every space needs every possible landscaping feature thrown at it.

Good landscaping isn't about adding more. It's about getting the right things right.
And if we can save you money, maintenance, time or a future headache along the way ... We'd rather tell you.

Landscapers, tradies and probably every person who works with their hands will know exactly what we mean.

Because somehow, a simple job has a magical way of becoming:

🌿 A place to pause. A legacy to remember.

Most landscaping projects are beautiful. Others are beautiful and meaningful.

We’ve recently had the privilege of completing a special memorial garden at Taitua Arboretum for Hamilton City Council, on behalf of the Mortimer family, to commemorate John and Bunny Mortimer - the founders of this very special place.

John and Bunny began transforming their land into an arboretum in the early 1970s, planting an incredible collection of native and exotic trees and shrubs. In 1997, they gifted the 20-hectare property to Hamilton City Council so that their passion for trees, nature and the environment could be enjoyed by the wider community for generations to come.

It felt particularly fitting, then, to create a lasting place within the arboretum where people can sit, pause and reflect on the legacy they left behind.

Working closely with the Council and the Mortimer family, our team worked carefully to construct a purposeful area that sits naturally within the surrounding landscape, complementing the character of the arboretum.

We’re incredibly proud to have played a small part in honouring the Mortimer family and the remarkable legacy they created here.

A place to sit. A place to remember. A legacy that continues to grow. 🌳
