🌿 Overgrown vegetation: more than just a gardening issue!
A good example spotted during a recent building inspection 👀
When shrubs and hedges grow too close to a home, they can do more than hide the exterior.
🌧️ Restrict drying: Less sunlight and airflow can slow the drying of exterior surfaces after rain.
💧 Trap moisture: Dense vegetation can hold moisture against cladding and around window joinery.
🏠 Affect long-term performance: Prolonged damp conditions can contribute to deterioration of building materials and increase the risk of moisture-related issues over time.
✅ The simple solution? Keep vegetation trimmed back from the home to allow good airflow, sunlight and access for maintenance and inspections.
🔎 When buying a home, don't just look at the garden — look at what's growing right up against the building. Small maintenance issues can have long-term consequences if left unchecked.
