HISTORY OF PFS ENGINEERING

PFS Engineering was formed in 1992. The primary objective of the company, was to provide a quality fabrication and services team, for the engineering industry at large. Since 1992, we have grown and built our team of experienced and qualified personnel, to be able to provide clients with quality project management from conception through to completion. We continuously work in an environment that demands pre-established time frames, budget constraints and inspection/test requirements as applicable. October 2000 saw PFS Engineering purchase the plant and machinery from Rolls Royce New Zealand, and February 2001 saw the purchase of the workshops and buildings from Rolls Royce New Zealand situated at 175 Riverlea Road, Hamilton. We are now able to offer our clients a workshop facility in excess of 30,000 square feet including two 25 tonne gantry cranes (50 tonne tandem lift) and two 10 tonne gantry cranes.

The best time to find a problem is before fabrication starts.

That’s why our Design team gets into the details early, working through how a project will actually be built and picking up potential issues before they turn into rework.

With design and fabrication under one roof, those conversations happen early and stay close to the build, meaning less risk for the client and a smoother project for all teams involved.

One team. One outcome.

Blue Pacific Minerals, one of New Zealand’s leading zeolite and fertiliser producers, has recently invested in a new Tokoroa-based plant to support its move into liquid fertiliser production. To deliver premium fertiliser in a fast and efficient way, the plant needed new equipment.

PFS Engineering was engaged to bring the plant's fertiliser equipment to life through full-service contract manufacturing, which included laser cutting, galvanising, fabrication, and delivery.

Paul Middlemiss, GM Operations, Blue Pacific Minerals Ltd, said that a highlight of working with PFS Engineering was:

"Having a group of people that have a can-do attitude to actually make it happen. It went seamlessly. What this new facility has allowed us to do is make a high-quality product, but in a lot shorter timeframe."

When your design is ready, we're ready to build.

Not every manufacturer has the equipment, capacity or capability to produce complex fabricated components.

That's where PFS Engineering comes in.

Working from customer-supplied designs, our Contract Manufacturing team delivers precision fabrication for one-off projects through to repeat production runs.

When quality, capacity and delivery matter, we're ready to help.

This month, Ryan Williamson is celebrating 12 years with PFS Engineering 💥

In his early days, Ryan joined the team as an apprentice fabricator/welder. After qualifying as a tradesman, Ryan transitioned to the office as an estimator, where he learned that estimating was a real career path and that there is always more to learn!

(And, he adds, that 22 degrees is the optimal heat pump temperature in the office.)

Today, he leads the PFS Contract Manufacturing department here in Hamilton, ensuring quality delivery for our valued customers.

We're proud to have you on the team!

We’re no stranger to complex steel projects. From bridges like the Taurapa Cycle Bridge in Hamilton (shown below) to silos and tanks, we take ownership and see you right.

Steel projects often rely on multiple designers, contractors, and installers, creating delays, rework and unclear accountability. When you work on a Design and Build project with PFS Engineering, there is one team in charge, with responsibility from start to finish.

All you need is an idea or concept. PFS takes ownership of everything that follows.

Not every engineering challenge looks the same.

Some require Design and Build expertise; others need high-volume contract manufacturing. And some challenges require a custom electrical enclosure, built to fit a unique application.

Whatever the size of the challenge, PFS Engineering has the multidisciplinary team, purpose-built facilities, and engineering methodology to deliver.
