Cory’s “lunch break” today wasn’t up on a roof — it was up a tree with his girls 🌿

No tools, no phone calls, no quotes… just climbing, laughing, and making the most of a sunny afternoon together.

We spend a lot of our days working on roofs, building, fixing, and making sure there’s something solid over our and our amazing crew’s families heads. But the reason we do it all comes back to this — having the flexibility to step away and be present for our own.

Running a business can be full-on, but moments like this make it worth it.

We’ve noticed a lot of new followers on the page lately, so we thought it was a good time to introduce ourselves.

Roof Direct H.B. Ltd is a locally owned, family-run roofing and wall-cladding business based here in sunny Hawke’s Bay. The business is owned by Cory Brittin and Arua Gray, and like most family businesses around here, it’s very much built around the idea of looking after people and doing good honest work.

We’re lucky to have a great crew alongside us — Hebrew, Nikolai, and AJ — who have all been with us for a number of years now. They started with us from early on and we’ve trained them up along the way. It’s something we’re really proud of, seeing the team grow and develop their skills over the years.

It’s been a busy start to the year already and we’re grateful for the support from our clients, builders, and the wider Hawke’s Bay community — and for everyone who’s started following along here.

We’ll keep sharing some of the projects we’re working on around the Bay.

What a year it’s been for you 💪

You pushed through COVID, dealt with all the ups and downs of the construction industry 🏗️, and still committed yourself to finishing your apprenticeship — a massive achievement and something to be really proud of 🎉

We’ve watched you grow, not just in your skillset but in your confidence and attitude. You’ve faced challenges that would knock others back, but you kept showing up, learning, and putting in the mahi day after day 🙌

It’s been awesome seeing you become the tradesman you are today. You earned this milestone and we hope you take a moment to soak it in and celebrate 👏

🎉 Happy Birthday to Hebrew this Sunday! 🎉

13 years ago he showed up with zero roofing experience… asked which way the screws go… and somehow never left. Now he’s basically part of the furniture — the good quality stuff that holds up forever.

He’s gone from “What’s a rivet?” to acting like he owns the place — just slightly creakier now than when he started 🤣

Happy birthday, Hebrew — thanks for sticking with us for 13 years and keeping the place running. 🎂🛠️😆

The office lady strikes again! 💪 Another work do successfully pulled off — the boys spent a gloriously chilled Saturday in the sun at the urbanbbqfestival 🍖☀️

Meat was devoured like champions. Beers were “sampled” (a little too enthusiastically in some cases 😏).

Laughter? Non-stop. Sunglasses? Definitely
required.

Some lads might be paying for it today with slightly sore heads… but that’s just proof it was a proper day out! 😂

Sun, BBQ, banter, and a crew so relaxed they practically melted into their chairs — another epic work do officially in the books! 🎉😎
