Kiwifruit Orchard Drainage Project
Pakowhai, Hawke’s Bay

Aqualine completed a sub-surface drainage install for a kiwifruit orchard in Pakowhai, where waterlogged soil was affecting plant health and growth.

Just under 1,700m of Novaflow was installed to help move excess water away from the root zone and allow the soil to return to better moisture levels.

Once complete, the system will help create stronger growing conditions for the plants and support better crop yields for the grower.

For this job, pipe needed to be installed under the road to connect the water line without trenching through the road surface.

The crossing was completed using directional drilling, with the holes drilled first before the pipe was pulled through underneath.
