The judges noted: “A pretty kitchen with a graceful balance of traditional character and carefully considered detail. Custom square profiles add subtle interest across the cabinetry and island, while the timber-framed cooking zone creates a strong focal point. The soft colour palette and interesting materiality give this kitchen warmth and charm.”

“…an impressive result for a modest budget…” — NKBA Awards Judges
Oak & Arc was designed for a couple building afresh on land they had known for 25 years. Clean full-height storage keeps the kitchen working quietly, while grey stone, timber and copper notes connect it to the home's cedar cladding. The curved, solid-timber-slatted island is the soft counterpoint: practical, architectural and made for the middle of the room.

Oak & Arc received the 2026 Kitchen Distinction Award - up to $30k.

A very special win for Rabbitte Joinery 🤍

I’m incredibly proud to have received the 2026 NKBA Kitchen Distinction Award – Up to $30K.

This kitchen proves that a beautiful, considered space doesn’t have to come with an enormous budget. Every detail needed to work hard — from the layout and material choices through to the finer design details — and I’m so proud of the finished result.

A huge thank you to our wonderful clients for trusting us with their home, and to our Rabbitte Joinery team for bringing the design to life.

It’s always pretty special to have our work recognised alongside some of the best kitchen design in New Zealand.

A little touch that makes a beautiful kitchen feel even better. 🤎

We love using Real World products in our kitchens — beautifully packaged, great to use and they look right at home sitting out on the benchtop rather than being hidden away.
