🌱 Happy September 1st! 🌱

Today marks the beginning of Foundational Mental Health Awareness Month.

Together, our Hastings team took time out to connect over smoko and learn about our newly launched TELUS Health EAP, which provides confidential wellbeing support for our staff and their families.

A huge thanks to the Mates4Life team for the incredible food, the insightful mental health stats they shared within New Zealand and the Hawke’s Bay community. And for running the team through an exercise proving just how coordinated they really are 😊

It was a great reminder of the importance of looking after ourselves and each other and a positive step forward in strengthening wellbeing across our workplace.

Friday was a chance to pause and celebrate two milestones that reflect the depth of capability across Lattey Group.

After six months of committed work, our teams have completed the Taradale Road / Herrick Street culvert project — a standout example of Civil and Hastings Precast working as one.
We also acknowledged the Tokaanu Bored Pile Tower Foundation project, where our civil crews have been delivering specialised work near Tūrangi for seven months.

These projects show what can be achieved when expertise, teamwork, and determination come together.

Last week our team swapped tools and keyboards, joining other Irongate businesses to plant over 1,700 native plants along the Irongate Stream. At Lattey Group, we take seriously our role in caring for the environment we work in and it’s inspiring to see what can be achieved when local businesses get behind a shared goal.

Local businesses are coming together to care for the place where they work.

The Irongate Collective is a new industry led environmental stewardship initiative bringing businesses together to invest in the health of Te Karamū and its tributaries. This is more than a one off planting project. We are building a long term partnership on shared responsibility, where businesses combine their resources, skills and networks to create lasting environmental outcomes. Because when we work together, we can achieve more than any one organisation can alone. The first project begins at the Irongate Stream, but the vision extends much further.

Project: Keune Warehouse, Levin

Project: Te Puna Bridge Upgrade.

Our civil crew have been doing an excellent job on the Te Puna Bridge upgrade, despite the challenging cold and muddy conditions. The reinstatement works involve stabilising and re establishing the bridge to its pre cyclone Level of Service through temporary support, structural lifting, and new pier construction. Working alongside project partners Quality Roading and Services, Lattey is delivering the piling, jacking operations and construction of the new reinforced concrete piers, from foundations through to superstructure, before re jacking the bridge to restore original loading conditions. Another challenging but rewarding project for the team.
