AG-TECH FIELD TECHNICIAN WANTED!

Right. Let’s be honest with each other.

This job involves driving a ute down a lot of muddy farm tracks, being inspected suspiciously by cattle, and occasionally lying on a concrete pad in a Dairy shed trying to figure out why a ram isn’t ramming. If that sounds like a Tuesday you’d be okay with — keep reading.

Chris Perrett Electrical Solutions Limited is a born-and-bred South Taranaki business. We’ve been keeping the region switched on for years, and we’re expanding the exciting world of agricultural technology — think animal drafting systems, data networks across farm buildings, wireless access points beaming internet to sheds that have never seen WiFi in their lives, and pneumatic rams that sort cattle with the quiet confidence of someone who’s done it a thousand times.

We need someone to help us do all of that. Specifically, someone who:

• Knows computers well enough to image a machine without Googling every step
• Can wire up an ELV drafting system without it looking like spaghetti
• Can configure a wireless access point and explain to a farmer why the cows walking past it isn’t actually causing the dropouts
• Isn’t scared of a compressed air line.
• Holds a clean NZ driver’s licence (the ute won’t drive itself yet)
• Is a NZ resident or holds a valid NZ work visa

You DON'T need to be a qualified electrician. You DON’T need a computer science degree. You DO need to be the kind of person who figures things out, finishes the job properly, and doesn’t leave a site looking worse than when you arrived.

A background in security systems, AV installation, ICT support, or anything involving cables and a healthy disregard for clean clothes would be a real advantage. Rural experience? Even better. Hands-on experience with MikroTik, Ubiquiti, Beckhoff, or Ruijie gear? We’ll be very interested.

Over the years, we have provided opportunities to a large number of Gateway Students from a number of Taranaki Schools — and yes, a large number of them liked us so much they stayed on as full time Apprentices. We must be doing something right! 😄

We have an exciting opportunity for a brand new Electrical Apprentice to join our team! This is a full time position and the successful applicant can start immediately — so no sitting around watching Netflix pretending to "figure out your future."

✅ At least 16 years old (sorry, we don't make the rules, yes, you have to be able to spell "voltage")

✅ NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
