At Jubilee Budget Advisory Service, we see how a serious illness affects far more than a person’s health. Time away from work can reduce income just as travel, treatment and everyday costs increase. Families may have to make difficult financial decisions while also caring for someone they love and coping with uncertainty. Having practical support and someone to talk things through with can make a real difference.
Our General Manager, Cherie, and her husband Andrew know this personally. Andrew has pleural mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos while working as an electrician. They are sharing their story to help protect others.
Asbestos can also be present in homes, particularly those built or renovated before 2000. It may be found in textured ceilings, old vinyl flooring, wall linings, roofing, cladding, eaves, insulation and older electrical switchboards.
If you’re planning DIY, check before disturbing materials that could contain asbestos. If you’re unsure, seek advice from a reputable asbestos professional.
We stand with Cherie and Andrew as they raise awareness of asbestos risks at work and at home. Please share this message with someone who may be renovating an older property.
