As Southland frosts settle in, your heat pump is likely running flat out. But if those filters haven't been cleaned since last year, you could be paying full price for only 70% of the actual heat.
Mid-June is when our home heating systems in the Deep South work the hardest to keep the cold at bay ❄ When dust and lint build up on the indoor unit filters, the fan has to work twice as hard to push warm air into your living room.
The good news is that you do not need to call in a technician to fix this. Cleaning your filters is a simple job you can easily do yourself this weekend to make sure you are getting every bit of warmth you pay for.
Just pop open the front cover of your indoor unit, slide the plastic mesh filters out, and give them a quick vacuum or rinse under the tap. Make sure they are completely dry before sliding them back in.
Taking ten minutes to clear that dust now will keep your power bills in check and make your home much easier to heat through the coldest months of the year. If you want a hand checking the rest of your home heating or insulation, we are always here to help.
