Spring is one of the busiest times of year in the nursery.

Orders are still being dispatched and seed being sown and germinated. Our seedlings for the 2027 season are now filling all six polyhouses at our Waipu Nursery. Once they reach the required size, they'll be transplanted into larger grades and moved outside across our nursery sites.

If you have a future planting project in planning, talk to our team about growing to order and securing the species and quantities your 2027 plantings.

Feedback like this reflects the work our team puts in every day.

On a project the size of Transmission Gully, having reliable supply is critical. That means growing quality stock in large volumes, keeping it consistent across every batch, and getting it to site exactly when it’s needed.

It was great working with Matt and the team at HEB Construction on Te Ara Nui o Te Rangihaeata, Transmission Gully.

Recently, we donated plants for a New Plymouth District Council and Waitara Community Board event.

It was great to see the rural community come together to transform bare land into a fully planted green space in under thirty minutes.

We're proud to support our local communities, it’s an important part of what we do.

Carbon forestry plays an important role in offsetting emissions and reducing the effects of climate change. A successful carbon forest starts with the right species, matched to your site conditions, soils, and climate.

Kauri Park is a contract growing expert for large-scale carbon forestry projects. Our nurseries produce containerised, wind-hardened plants at scale, direct seeded into containers.

Species include Pinus radiata, Sequoia sempervirens, Eucalyptus species, and a range of New Zealand natives.

Our nurseries have experienced their fair share of frosts over the cooler months.

One concern we often hear is that plants grown further north may not be suited to colder conditions. While the majority of our plants come from our upper North Island nurseries, these sites are intentionally exposed to challenging conditions, including hard frosts and high winds. Growing plants this way helps increase survival rates and supports strong, healthy growth out in the landscape.

We also understand which species are more sensitive to frost. If a site is prone to hard frosts, we can advise on which species to leave out of the planting mix and recommend suitable alternatives for the conditions.

Eco-sourced plants are grown from seeds collected close to where they will be replanted, or from within the same ecological region, ensuring they are suited to local conditions, climate, and habitat.

Seed ripening can vary from year to year, so our experienced team work to nature’s schedule, checking plants several times over a one to two month window to collect seed at the right time. We collect a little seed off a lot of plants of the same species, ensuring a broader range of genetic material and reducing the risk of disease through a weak genetic line.
