Kia ora, it’s Hannah here, Aron’s wife, just hijacking the Flood Roofing page for a moment to celebrate 10 years of Flood Roofing. 🎉

I'm not hugely active in the business these days, as my main priority is looking after our four young children aged 8, 6, 2 and 8 months old... so outside of the business, family life is pretty chaotic too 😅

I thought I'd share a small snippet of how Aron got to where he is today, because let me tell you, it has not been an easy journey. There have been incredible moments to celebrate, and there have been moments where we've questioned everything. So please don't be under the impression this has been smooth sailing, because that's just not the reality of building a business.

Aron started Flood Roofing at just 23, right off the back of finishing his apprenticeship in Auckland.

Not long after that, we packed up and moved to Northland, where Aron grew up and calls home, born and bred. It was a brand new place for me, coming from a small Waikato town... and to top it off, surprise — baby number one was on the way!

We bought our first home in Moerewa, and that's where Flood Roofing really began. Aron ran the business from our home and small backyard, with just him and a couple of other guys for about four years. We even made it through Covid when a lot of small businesses didn't.

We then moved to Ōkaihau, Aron's hometown, where the business continued to grow. He built a big shed, an outside home office and created more space, but it was still very much a small business, mostly doing contract work, and being rural wasn't exactly practical for meeting customers or staff as he began to grow the team.

The last few years have been a huge turning point. We're actually both quite introverted people, so making these big leaps has been huge mentally.

In 2024, Aron pushed himself well outside his comfort zone, invested in business coaching, backed himself, grew the business quickly, and reached the point where it needed its own space. Seeing Flood Roofing get its own home in Kerikeri was such a massive milestone. It was also a year of huge financial challenges, worrying, and wondering if we'd bitten off more than we could chew.

Through it all, Aron has stayed true to who he is a humble, kind, hardworking country guy who keeps looking forward, keeps showing up, and always puts his family first.

He underestimates himself far more than he should, and I honestly couldn't be a prouder wife.
