The brief for this home, which is tucked into the hills of Maungaraki, was to create additional, flexible space for the family. The materials were selected to integrate with the existing home, while the style and shape created a striking contrast with a raking ceiling and high level glazing throughout the new living space, creating a special place to sit and enjoy the views. Insulation was carefully considered to ensure the space feels warm and cosy even on a wet blustery wellington day.
A bonus win was a whole new storage area created downstairs which makes clever use of the space and adds practicality to the home.
