From Slope to Structure: The 3 Stages of Site Transformation!
We’ve been busy transforming this sloped section into a fully functional, usable space. To get it looking this sharp and completely ready for its next chapter, we broke the project down into three key stages:
Stage 1: Engineering the Foundation (The Retaining Wall)
Every solid site starts from the ground up. We began by drilling deep, setting heavy-duty retaining posts, and installing robust timber lagging. This wall is engineered to handle the serious earth pressure, ensuring total structural integrity and long-term stability for the newly created flat ground above.
Stage 2: Blending Safety with Style (Posts Cut to Handrail Height)
Instead of just leaving standard retaining posts, we extended and cut the main structural posts precisely to handrail height. This clever design detail creates a built-in safety barrier along the edge of the drop-off, giving the entire perimeter a clean, cohesive, and finished look.
Stage 3: The Final Cut & Fill (Site Leveled & Prepped)
With the retaining and safety structures locked in, it was time for the heavy earthmoving. We cut back the slope, filled the low zones, compacted the ground, and leveled the entire pad out completely flat.
What’s Next?
The site is now perfectly prepped, stable, and 100% ready for its next stage—whether that’s bringing in a caravan for an epic summer setup, launching a new minor dwelling build, or pouring a fresh slab.
