From this… to this. In about an hour.

This is one of the things we love about the way this 40m² granny flat is coming together.

While we were setting up on site with our client and looking at the layout, we started talking through the kitchen. A few ideas were thrown around, one change led to another and, within about an hour, we had a revised plan that worked better for him.

The granny flat became 300mm longer and 100mm wider, the kitchen layout was reworked, and the hallway door was moved, giving us a more practical layout and making better use of the available space.

And it’s still 40m².

Because this build doesn’t require a building consent, changing the design didn’t mean stopping the project to submit amended plans to Council and wait for approval. We could make those decisions with our client, on site, and keep moving.

That’s the kind of flexibility that can make a huge difference on a small build.

Same 40m². A better layout. About an hour to rethink it.

For eligible standalone homes up to 70m², the exemption pathway can mean:
