When comparing roof replacement quotes, please take care—there are some important things to keep in mind.

We’ve had many people reach out recently, wondering why roofing quotes can sometimes differ so much. The truth is, while most re-roofing projects run smoothly, unforeseen issues can occasionally arise once the old roof is removed. This means no quote can ever be an exact prediction, but reputable companies will always provide a fair and transparent estimate.

If you receive a quote that is significantly lower than the others, that can be a red flag. Most roofing companies source materials from the same suppliers and work with similar costs, so quotes should generally be in the same range. While labour rates and travel can vary, they typically don’t account for extreme price differences.

Very low quotes can sometimes indicate that shortcuts may be taken to cut costs, which could compromise the quality and longevity of your roof. On the other hand, a higher quote may include allowances for potential issues that others haven’t considered.

That’s why we always recommend getting at least 2–3 quotes. This gives you a solid basis for comparison and helps ensure you’re comparing like-for-like materials and services.

Color tips for you and your new roof and spouting...

When choosing colors, keep in mind the house, spouting and background.
Go to this cool little link we use - https://www.colorsteel.co.nz/inspiration/design-your-roof/

-Scroll down to house types, choose a home closest to yours.
-Once you've chosen a home, time to pick the house color closest to yours.
-Now it's time to choose a roof profile, just remember, the tray roofing is a lot more expensive than the other 2 options.
-Once you've chosen a home, it's time to pick the house color closest to yours.
-Next is to choose the roof color you would like and the rest is your call.

Just a quick tip when choosing roof colors.
Think about future selling options, so keep in mind someone else owning your home.
Keep in mind the color of the house and spouting, external environment ect.
Here's a nice little toy you can use, see link below.
Hit the link, scroll down, choose the house shape closest to yours, choose one of the 3 roof profiles, but keep in mind the tray roof profile is a lot more expensive than the ribbed or corrugate.
Choose a house color as close to yours as possible.

Thought I'd post this for you info, just had a client ask what a cop flashing is... This is a Change of Pitch flashing (COP).
It is required by the NZ Building code and it is just something we will never leave out.
It serves as a break between to moving parts, Expansion and contraction.
Really a needed requirement in Hawkes Bay, not only due to the massive amounts of earthquakes we get monthly but also for the Hawkes Bay sun.
Buildings move, roofs are designed to move also, and without these Ive seen flashings and sheets of iron split.
Something to think about for the day.
