Ever wondered what goes into a hydroseeder? 🌱
That green mix isn't paint. It's a lawn in a tank. Here's what's in every load:
💧 Water: the carrier that gets everything onto the ground
🌾 Grass seed: blended for your site and conditions
🌽 Corn fibre mulch: holds moisture and protects the seed
🧪 Tackifier: glues it all down so it stays put in wind and rain
🌿 Starter fertiliser: feeds the seed from day one
💚 Green dye: so we can see exactly where we've sprayed
It all gets mixed and agitated in the tank, then sprayed evenly over the area. Fast, even coverage, and much quicker than traditional seeding.

🏗️ Why sanding your turf is NOT a step to skip 🏗️
We get asked all the time — "does artificial turf really need sand?" Short answer: yes, and here's why it matters 👇
✅ Weighs the turf down – keeps it firmly in place and stops rippling or movement over time
✅ Protects the backing – shields the turf backing from UV damage, extending its lifespan
✅ Keeps fibres upright – helps the blades stand tall instead of matting down, so it stays looking lush
✅ Improves drainage & stability – creates a solid, even base underfoot
✅ Adds realism – gives that natural give and bounce you just don't get with unfilled turf
Skipping the sand might save time on install day, but it shows up fast — flattened patches, wrinkles, and a lawn that ages way quicker than it should. We infill every job properly, right down to the last square metre. 💪

Supporting local schools and tamariki

A pretty exciting moment for Hampden Street School!

Our new outdoor sensory hub has made the Nelson Mail, and even better, it’s already making a real difference for our tamariki.

A place to reset, recharge, create, play or simply find a bit of calm when the school day feels a little too busy. And judging by the giant chess board, it’s also become a pretty great place to hang out! ♟️

What started as an idea to better support some of our students has become a space that so many are enjoying.

We’re incredibly proud to see it in action, and even prouder to hear our students describe it as a place where they feel “calm,” “safe” and “amazing.”

A big thank you to everyone who helped make it happen, and to the Nelson Mail for shining a light on something pretty special happening right here at Hampden Street.
