An increasingly common style of cane requested, this twisted purple heart cane poses a striking look. The deep purple colour came out excellent and compliments the brass ends superbly. Made to Australian standards, this one was sent across the ditch to a customer serving in the ADF.

It has been a little while since a post, but that isn't because it hasn't been busy! This matching coin and cane display really took some effort. Something so large was a challenge when it came to wood movement and I ended up having to fully start the project over three times before it was up to standard. Engraved with the badges and emblems of the respective units, with 9mm brass casings to display the coin collection from a lifetime of service, and sleek simple supports for a cane to sit, in the end I was super happy with how this turned out for the customer.

The posts and social media has been a bit slow, but the workshop sure hasn't. Over the last few months custom orders have been sent across the country and across the ditch! This order was a coin display with the unit emblem engraved. It was a large display to fit all the coins, while still leaving room to grow!

This custom drill cane was a new challenge, but I am super happy with how it came out (and the client is as well!). The timber is Tasmanian Blackwood with custom engraving. Down the length of the cane runs a Pāua shell inlay. It is made up of over 50 individual pieces, each hand-cut and sanded to shape before being epoxied in. I left each piece slightly proud, put the cane back on the lathe and re-sanded it, leaving an incredibly smooth transition between the wood and shell.

This is a project that has been on the list for a while now. It is a men's accessory box crafted from swamp kauri and jarrah. I tried a few new techniques with this, the most challenging being the inlaid corners (which I think came out great). The inside is finished with felt to protect the contents and has dedicated displays for watches, cufflinks, and general items. It is available, so if you're interested in this one, or something similar send me a message!

Excited to share the newest addiaddition to the arsenal! I’ve added an MS880 chainsaw with a 60in bar and a Alaskan mill. Swipe to the end for a size comparison! I can now mill even larger logs into slabs up to 1.4m in width. This is a brilliant addition to the business and will work great alongside the WoodMizer. If you’re interested in having some slabs milled, just reach out!

Over the last few weeks, I have started my largest job yet. It is about four weeks' worth of work, milling eucalyptus, redwood, and oak for a farm in Morrinsville. The redwood timber will be used to renovate the original woolshed with board and batten cladding. The oak will be processed into flooring, to use throughout the farm and on a new batch build. This farm has been in the family for generations and the trees were planted by the great-grandfather and grandfather. It's very special to see them being used and to be part of the journey!
